Been riding sleds since I was 8, my folks were into riding, and my mother got a new sled that year, so I got her Enticer 340, and ride that until my mother couldn't ride much anymore, so I rode her Phazer. I loved that sled, and being only 12 at the time, it went fast enough for me, then when my father upgraded to VMAX 700 triple, I was able to sell my Phazer for his Exciter 570, I sold that when I enlisted in the USAF at 18. I didn't ride again until I got out in 05, moved back to the Northeast and bought my first Rev chassis, what a night and day difference on how hard I could ride with being fatigued vs old chassis sleds. I like the styling of the 90s sleds, as they were low and sleek, but the new sleds are so much better ergonomically.

As a fellow Minnesota ditch rider i can appreciate your hard work haha, i put in hard work on my 99 XC SP 500 indy as much as possible around Cambridge. For someone who only dreams of having a new sled , I love these videos guys. I'm 38 and have the sled i could only dream about when I was a teenager . But now , the sleds 23 years old and I still ride it like like I'm a pissed off teenager . Keep up the vids guys , and stay safe out there. If ever around this way , let's get a group together! Stay safe!

Those XLT "Extra Light Triples" were piston-port triples, 200cc/cylinder engines that were not the top of the line sleds. The XCR Special was a derivation of the standard 600cc that were reed valve triple pipe engines. Those were fire-breathing beasts that would leave a standard XLT in the dust. I bought a '99 Ski-Doo Formula 583 that was a direct competitor new off the showroom floor for $5,500 in 1999. Those were the best years of snowmobiles, affordable, dependable high performance 2-strokes that would easily get you 300 miles per day in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and walk away from it.

Just the quick math none of you guys were ever on a 97 XLT tripl when you were kids or a few of you not even born in 97. LOL. Having sledded since having Polaris, TX's, TXL, Yamaha SRX and since having Cats, Ski Doos to my newest 2018 ZR 9000 i will say there is nothing like the new speed and ride on the new sleds as compared to those of days gone by. You kids are lucky you never had to ride them old babies for a season, fixing them, blowing belts hauling to throw them in a pick up truck and haul to a dealership. Long before Canadian tire even carried a Dayco belt. Aw the frozen memories. Sure would love that Polaris 850 Switchback you guys have. Good vid. Thanks

As a proud owner of an EXTRA LETTUCE AND TOMATO 600 Triple. ive had it since 96'. it was my grandfathers brand new and he gave it to me when he passed away. that xlt 600 is a beast, my F9 was quick, but the xlt big bore just hit different. i still ride it every year for a memorable ride up in NY. that being said, big bore an XLT and its noticeably different, compared to the 800 kit or even the SRX 700 triple doesnt have the same effect but them SRX sound mean af! enjoyed the content dudes
