yep. Saying that TR is better than Longhorn and Outback is just simply wrong. My local TR is worse than both of those two and everyone here knows it. Now, their bread and butter is for sure better than those other two
yes! the past 5 times i’ve been to my local TR it sucked, and i went to longhorn for my birthday and everything there seemed much better than local TR.

I cannot tell you how happy I am to see this. People sleep on TR but it is great. Family, friends, coworkers, clients, date...I've taken them ALL there at one point or another and everyone loved it. Food never fails, and the rolls and cinnamon butter are awesome as well. Yes, there can be times when something isn't "correct," but not often in over 100 experiences there. ETA: love all the positive comments from guests and employees!
It just depends on the location some cooks fuck up so bad at Texas Roadhouse and it feels like they will hire anyone. But some get lucky and get a cook who knows what they're doing. Can make a huge difference. Ive had a 10/10 experience and a 1/10 experience and there's not many places where you get this variation.
@@dianes5762 No joke though, Texas Roadhouse is in a league of their own. I don't remember the details now, but they have some insane stanards with their steaks - much higher than any other chain steakhouse. It isn't just the steaks, either. Do yourself a favor, go try it.
I’m lucky enough to have a Texas Roadhouse right down the street from me and it’s definitely a favorite place of mine and my fiancé. We have never had a bad experience or food and the service is amazing
I have a friend who's a chef he has trained here in the US and in France. When he's here in the US he likes to work at Little odd Jobs to get experience from all different restaurants. He says around where we live Texas Roadhouse is the only one that actually uses prime grade stakes. He says every other fancy place around here doesn't actually use it and they lie to you about what they're getting you.
Texas Roadhouse has got to be my favorite chain restaurant. I worked there very very briefly (for about a month and a half) and I know they serve good stuff. They have licensed meat cutters cutting the meat, the prep team washes and cuts all of the veggies daily and the bakers spend hours upon hours baking the bread. The restaurant opened at 4 pm yet the kitchen staff were coming in at 8 or 9 am to get ready
@@heangtsh3807yeah, I used to work there too. We would come in hours early just to prep everything. We used to open around 12 or 1 and 10 for the early birds. Pay was awful though lol, and managers weren’t bad but def weren’t what they should be. But I supposed their all different but that was just my experience. I didn’t get breaks and my feet started hurting so bad. I would be constantly outside running food out and packing food. My pay wasn’t all that great tbh

Granted I'm a server so it depends on the night but nah I always see the people in the back looking like slaves cause they're constantly doing something. But it looks bad sometime 💀. Our entire front staff is entirely white washed but then you peep in the back, and its all Hispanics 😂. The translation barrier when were in a rush and the kitchen manager from Minnesota not knowing how to say "loaded sweet patato" in Spanish is funny as fuck. They got breaks but it was usually 5 minutes breaks where they sit down on a potato box.
@poi6049 was yours franchised? Mine was corporate, and things were ran decently. But that no breaks thing was a fucking pain. Managers were generally cool with letting you take 10 to smoke a cigarette and eat some salad and rolls and one Manager (i knew him before hand) would let me sneak chicken tenders and any messed up food. I was making $15/hr in 2018 and that was ok but still poverty back then, and I ended up seeing that costco was hiring at $15.50 and paid time and a half on Sundays so I applied there and have been there since October of 2018
@yahjah3795 my store only allowed 3 tables per server so they were constantly leaving because even tho its less stressful thats not a lot of money. Where was yours at? Our kitchen was like half white half hispanics and the servers were mostly white with a few black servers and one Asian girl. The Hispanics in the kitchen could mostly speak decent English, at least enough to understand the name of a menu item or stuff like "well done, medium rare" etc. And as for the Minnesota girl, it's "DON/DOÑA ___ NECESSITA UNA BATATA CON TODO AHORA MISMO"
The wait staff at each location I worked at, around the northeast Oklahoma area, are required to know every menu item and are quite literally tested on this shortly after being hired.
That either means the food and pay is so good that they’re eating what they serve, or they’re committed to their jobs and just memorise the menu. Either way, it’s a damned good sign that what you’re about to eat is definitely at the absolute MINIMUM “pretty damn decent” (aka technically mediocre, but edging into good), but more commonly is gonna slap
I’m a Texan and go to that exact location you went to multiple times, you definitely should have tried the bread with their cinnamon butter, it’s just heavenly
i worked at texas roadhouse right after high school, almost everything was fresh delivered multiple times a week. meat is never frozen. all sauces homemade, fresh produce. they serve quality food at texas roadhouse
I travel a lot and my experience at Texas Roadhouse has always been positive, no matter the location. The cooks know what they're doing, the servers are great, and sometimes the manager comes out to see if the customers are doing alright. Arguably one of my favorite chain restaurants.
And every second is well deserved. Went there once and it sucked. Went a second time to a different location thinking maybe the first one was just a fluke. Nope, both locations were trash.
I used to love Outback. They have gone downhill the past 10 years or so. I was going to go there one time last year, and saw that they were now more expensive than Texas Roadhouse. Texas Roadhouse is way better.
Texas Roadhouse is the only place i go to religiously. At least once a month. Always good, always cheaper. And the manager always checks on me or my party. Bartenders are easily some of the nicest.
as someone who lives 10 minutes away from a Texas Roadhouse, I can say that they are AMAZING. I get their bacon burger almost every time, because it is about the cheapest thing you can get, and it is soo good. They always give you a bunch of fries with it too, and the fries are seasoned sooo well.
Worked a TRH as a teen. Line cook kept a dinner plate with at least a gram of blow & a 6 pack in ice under the bar line. He’d dip down to hit a line, or chug a beer then stand up & scream “HELL YEA” at the top of his lungs every time. Loved that job. Also seen a grill cook get fired for bad papers only to be back the very next day with a new “name”.

And TR is so good they spend very little cash for advertising... So many other places "taco bell and McDonalds" constantly shove commercials down our faces
I worked in the kitchen at Texas Roadhouse for a while and one of the best things you can get is the steak and shrimp. You wouldn’t think to get shrimp in a place like that but the bread it comes with and garlic butter makes the meat so much better.
I work at Texas Roadhouse. I can confirm that they cut their own steaks and meats. We have a walking- in refrigerator that 4 guys work in all day prepping the stakes, chicken and meats. They do small batches of the sides so they are fresh. We have a lady that all she does is chop lettuce, carrots, cabbage to make the salad mix.
I worked there for a little over a year and was privileged to start there when the restaurant first opened so everything was brand new and still looked like that when I left. They trained everyone really well and everyone worked and communicated with each other like a fine oiled machine.
I was in a similar situation I worked at the one in Wake Forest, NC when it first opened. I was impressed with all the food except the peanut we would put on the table at the time.
Some people that I really loved used to be the ones who traveled to different new ones to help open them and train people. I miss them. I wonder how they are.
The only beef I have with Texas Roadhouse is that they have caricature pictures of lots of famous country singers on the walls but the jukebox never has any of their music :/
As a current worker at TXRH, once you eat a lot of rolls and butter it gets nauseating. but take a break from them and they taste good asf. i find it so fun to work there, not to mention the workers at my location are so kind and funny and i’ve made new friends there. Cooks are really the ones who control whether you have a good or bad experience. You can have the greatest and tastiest food, if you don’t like how it turned out, they’ll remake it for you. but if your rude to your server, forget the manager, you might be meeting our angry head cook.

Texas roadhouse is awesome. Its fun and loud so kids can go and you don't feel awkward. Steaks are always good. Menu has enough choices for most anyone. Bread and butter is 🔥 its our favorite sit down restaurant
i was a cook at texas roadhouse in college and it surprised me to learn that EVERYTHING is made from scratch. Steaks are never frozen (with one exception), and its just a different beast - 10 cooks at a minimum most nights. Interesting thing about their desserts too is they purposefully make them underwhelming because desserts dont have margins like steak does and they’d rather have a new customer than you wait around and eat dessert.
A good dessert can make the meal tho for some and if i want a good dessert after my meal it could influence my next meal choice. This isnt always the case but eh.

Texas Roadhouse is my brother's favorite place for ribs - and he's a true connoisseur. I've had their ribeye steak when I was on keto and it was awesome. Highly recommend! (Also - the fresh rolls they bring to your table when you sit down SLAP.)
My siblings and I enjoyed when my bro worked for Burger King the same way. Not exactly the best, but if the food’s discounted (or free at times), there’s no complaints. It was not down the street. As a quick note, this is in a EU country.
I've always told anybody that wants to go to outback or longhorn to not even bother, Texas Roadhouse is THE place to go. Cheaper AND Better. AND The bread and the drinks are 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

Went there recently as a thank you for helping my folks out with something big for them - had the fried catfish with a Chili and Rice for sides. We hadn't been there in a year, and I've never tried anything beyond their steaks. It was really good, like I'm still thinking about my meal weeks after good. I'd loose allot more money if I ate out alone more cause I'd go there more. lol
@shadow_gamer2527 Yes but this is a nice sit-down restaurant with ambiance. Similar places, even ones without the ambiance like Five Guys, a burger is alot more then that. You can't compare sit down places to fast good its not a fair comparison.
I grew up with my grandpa who while from Texas spent most of his adult life in Nevada. Anyway. The first time I ate at Texas roadhouse I litterally cried after the first bite cause it tasted just like grandpa used to make, and he had long pasted at the time. The 2nd time the nostalgia was gone, but they do make an incredible steak..
130 is actually crazy for 5 people. if my family of 6 ate out when i was younger pretty much anywhere else its about 60-80 plus sometimes closer to 90. For that reason we almost never ate out
The chicken dishes at texas are also phenomenal, marinaded so they’re still juicy after braising and frying. 13$ for a massive and delicious meal is honestly pretty great today.
My family always go to the local Texas Roadhouse for birthdays it’s genuinely amazing. Also that’s either the same one I go to or all of them look identical..
if no one has been to texas roadhouse here. i highly recommend, everytime my girlfriend and i take a trip to san diego we go to it. the price of the meals are so worth it. and that bread holy shit
Texas Roadhouse is just godly. It's a chain that said fuck inflation, fuck profitizing the entire business. They just make great food and have great service.
I sat in a Texas Roadhouse for two hours. By myself. I ate amazing food, worked on a film script, and just enjoyed solitude. I was full after the first hour and paid after an hour and a half (I was waiting for my ride, but it wasn’t miserable or anything) they never asked me to leave, they didn’t demand I order more food. One of the servers sat with me for a while and we just talked. And they refilled my tea and rolls twice after I paid. Amazing place, wish I had money to eat there all the time. Will always, no matter what, remain at the top of my list.
Every time I've been to Texas Roadhouse its been absolutely delicious. I used to love going there on special occasions when I lived in the midwest for college. I wish I still lived near one!
Every year for my birthday i have gone to Texas Roadhouse with my family my favorite order? Onion blossom (I share with my mom and younger sister bc it's enough for all 3 of us and still have leftovers), the half-slab ribs and a baked potato (and Dr. Pepper for my drink choice) easily my favorite go-to meal there.
was nice to a waitress who was having a shitty day and she ended up giving us free bottles of their seasoning and discounting our meal bc we talked to her and told her what she was doing was a great job. amazing service. she doesn’t work there anymore but she was the best waitress ever. obviously she got a giant tip from me. (like 50 bucks which was over half the total cost.)
I had the opposite experience with both porterhouses from outback and texas roadhouse. It's usually whatever chef you get to grill your steak that determines how it comes out, not the restaurant itself.
Shout-out to my Grandma for making sure my wife and I have at least 1 date night a year. She always gets us gift cards for Texas Roadhouse for Christmas.
I’ve been the roadhouse literally 100x, never a bad meal or service. Military, police, fireman and nurses get 10% off everyday, 20% on Tuesday. The rolls and chili are delicious
One of the slept on best value meals at Texas roadhouse is the filet medallions you get 9oz of amazing steak with 3 sides. It is served on a bed of rice but that can be swapped for a different side if you prefer.
That looks closer to medium to me. But, not gonna knock Texas Roadhouse; always had good service and even a slightly overcooked filet was still SO good
Same thing here and as someone who did some semipro photography work, I'm not sure it's the camera. Seems properly white balanced and a bit oversaturated if anything.
Had to scroll too far to find this. I ask for steaks "well done" and get them coming out looking like this. lol Which is fine, but I have once in my life received a steak that was both brown in the middle, and still soft and melt in your mouth. I've been hunting for a way to relive that experience for 20 years.
When me and my mom + grandma wanna go somewhere after shopping and sit and eat, but not be fancy, this is where we go. It's casual, it's good, the prices are nice, and the quality is consistent. Truly a great chain if you ask me.
100% I've worked at 3 different steakhouses for a total of 10+ yrs, if you don't know how to cook correctly it doesn't matter the quality of the meat. Most restaurants have the recipe dialed-in, it's all in how it's prepared.
Roadhouse has a more defined training program for its chefs than every other chain out there to ensure quality control. Hence why they are the number 1 steak house chain in the US. Sounds like you had a bad experience which always sucks but the vast majority of RH restaurants are on point.
@@richm298 TR was the freaking best when I was in college. Back then the early dine was 7.99 for a 6oz sirloin and so me and my friends made sure our classes worked so we would have plenty of time to roll up at 11:30 when they opened. Out the door with a water was under 12 dollars for a really good meal!
They have a concise menu and don't really change anything on it. It's pretty much the same items at every restaurant and they do it over and over pretty well. It's nice that it's affordable, it just would be nice to have a little bit of variety.
As a former employee of Texas Steakhouse as a baker, i wholeheartedly agree. The owner breaks or makes the restaurant and it was mostly phenomenal. I dont like eating there just cause i ate so much i got sick of it. I compare any service to theirs and only few can compare.
