Cheapest Diy Bike Phone Mount 

Hi, so I assume you have been using this for a while know. How is your smartphone holding up? Have the vibrations and impacts transferred from the bike messed up your phone?

Ok,so as I mentioned earlier my QR is not a tight snug fit in my headset mount. I have tried making a washer from various materials.The problem is the washer needs to be 0,5 mm thick to fill the gap on mine. I think I have solved it if not improved the fit making a washer from a piece of plastic carton.I have not cut the prong off.

No need to saw it off, you can get some pliers and pull the metal thing off.

I thought of doing something like this using GoPro mounts just before I seen this video. I totally forgot they make a CNC head mount for bikes. So I thought I'd check eBay first for an alternative. For sure going with this set up. I guess I will use my extra iPhone 6 Speck CandyShell hard case specifically for this, due to my phone having a bumper case on with a metal plate on the back of my phone for my magnetic phone mount in my car. Wouldn't be a problem swapping back and fourth between the two.

Hi Jack Gilly, I have bought all these parts to make this.I have a question? When I slot the Go Pro QR Mount into the headset mine is a lose/sloppy fit??? When I tighten up with the thumbscrew it is still loose. I could try and find some small thin washers to fill the gap and see if that works.In your video yours appeared to tighten up as soon as you slotted the QR mount in place. I haven't cut the end prong off just yet until I see if I can get this tight.Any ideas on this problem.It's also a pity the thumbscrew thread is not a quarter inch longer to put a nut on the end of it.

Is it absolutely necessary to cut the end prong? It isn't clear in the video what the purpose of this step is, and I don't have the tools to do that. Thanks for the tutorial, it seems to be by far the best way to DIY a phone mount.
