I did my 3x5m workshop using gun grade cans at 2inches const me about £150 and worked amazingly. Was no waste and grate fun. But I either way, it's fantastic for insulation and noise reduction. 👍
I just had done my spray foam by a company in Nottingham and I'm really happy with it. The guy filled all the panels that I wanted and I didn't notice any warping or swelling. It's good to look for guys that are insulating boats because they have experience in getting it done in small spaces with a lot of details. It's also good to see if they post any photos of the jobs they've done. Great video, it made me trust the experience of the guys that are doing it everyday and I'm really glad I did. And like you say, it's way cheaper this way.
@@8skywalker8 After some time I noticed a bit of swelling in a few places but it doesn't make a big difference to me, personally. You can barely see it only on a certain angle. And remember to protect outside of the van, especially around the side door because I haven't done that and wind spread insulation bits on the bodywork. I think that it should go away with some polishing but I didn't get to it yet. Anyway, fair guy, easy to talk with and he didn't charge a fortune.
Over in the US, at homedepot, we got these spray cans of foam called "Great stuff" or something er other... I was thinkin of doing that for insulation, but after seeing the quality of this job, think it would be worth the cost to have a pro spray it in right. Thank you!

Got to say spray foam is the way to go. So much quicker than insulating the other way. And I bet there's not a significant difference in overall cost. Looked brilliant when done and it looks like it will be toasty in there.

Thats only about R5. With the body heat of two people, to keep it 20C inside, the outside temp could only go as low as 15C before a heat source is needed. And that’s with no windows and without opening and closing doors or vent fans. And without an insulated pass-through wall. You can use a heat source, sure. But if you’re really about the environment, you should insulate your van well enough to not require a heat source but for occasional, very cold times. With 2” of spray foam, body heat is adequate to keep it 20C inside if 0C outside. 2.5” to account for the windows. Then make some insulated, removable window covers to be more efficient while sleeping. Will need the insulated pass-through wall too. Any excess heat can easily be vented through your vent fan which also greatly assists in reducing excess humidity. This amount of insulation keeps heat out in summer until much later in the day and allows the vent fan to work more effectively to reduce temp as much less heat is being radiated/conducted in from the outside. Its a myth that heavy insulation makes summer evenings too hot, just need adequate ventilation. I opted for an efficient aircon myself, running from solar during day and battery bank at night.
Your Steering Wheel has an Airbag. In the unlikely event of it going off, you need to learn to protect your Thumbs from being Broken, by not curling them on the inside of the Steering Wheel. Not hard to do, particularly if you consider 6 Weeks without Use of your Thumbs.
