This is the first stage of my van build (the build part) So far we’ve stripped it back to its steel! But now we’re making her a home 🤘 Links to insulation In comments 🤙
Loving the vids - theyre really helpful for me as i’m currently doing up a transit connect myself. I commented the other day asking for the wheelbase of yours and have since bought a LWB. Insulation is the next step as i have stripped the back out and removed the bulkhead. Now you’ve lived with it for a while. Are you still happy with the insulation you used, or would you recommend a different type having used the van a bit now? Am planning on just ordering the stuff you linked in the comment. Cheers bud 🤘🏼
@@tommydickens4617 wicked! Good going mate! 👌 I’d keep the insulation the same mate, I’d recommend getting some reflective front screen inserts though as that where the heat hits in the summer + the cold in the winter 🤙
Your videos have been some of the most helpful I've seen. It's so helpful to see the details of each thing you're doing, all the issue and problems that go along with it. For instance, I didn't realise what a difficult job it would be to get the bulkhead out, and what's involved in getting the insulation in. Thanks for your videos.
Served with QRL/RL from 2006 to 2018 love the vlogs. Could tell you was a squaddie as soon as you spoke the slang lol. Thanks for the tutorial getting a peugeot partner 2019 next weekend and planning to turn into a basic micro camper. Liked, subscribed and ill try buy from your amazon links 👍🏼 maybe see ya on the road pal 👍🏼
Hi mate, loving your videos, watched some of them about 5 times now! Quick question, we're doing up a very similar sized van (Nissan NV200), how much of the insulation did you buy? For the first stage thermal, did you get away with the 15m roll or did you buy the 25m roll? And secondly, how much of the recycled plastic insulation did you buy? 1 roll or 2? Will buy from your links when we do :)
Hi mate! Love that! Haha I used 1 x 15m roll mate, but if and was left with about 1m And I bought 2 rolls of the other insulation, but was only just enough, had to use it sparingly in places Thank you mate, good luck 🙌
@@JakesJourneyMate Legend, thank you very much! We are proper having trouble with our bulkhead removal, got all the torx ones out no probs, but theres a couple of round headless "prisoner" style bolts to remove. Really hard to get any purchase on them with anything. I've heard they are usually threaded as opposed to riveted though so I'm hoping some decent mole grips get the job done tomorrow. Once that's gone we can start the fun stuff :)
The reflective layer provides a layer between your exhalation in the van and the outer (cold) panels of the van... This stops condensation in turn keeping you dry at night and stopping the van from rusting/ going mouldy 🤙 Done mate 👌
I find it works quite well for both mate, slept quite comfortably at 35c + in the south of France yet sleep comfortably at -8 also... just gotta have the right sleeping system at the lower temps if you don’t bother with the Diesel heater
you don't need a vapour barrier always it can actually trap moisture , depends on the climate and how much you use the camper in cold weather (if you live in it during the winter then i would advise) , good ventilation is the most important. I have never had a problem, i even removed my ceiling panels and inspected behind a wall panel after using my van for 4 days straight in 3 degrees c , cooking and using a heater buddy....no condensation, i installed an inline fan that runs at 5watts on trickle so i leave it on during the night, i dont even get condensation on my front windows.
