I was there Thursday 6/8/23 and the challenge was at $2,250. Great job on the challenge! I am impressed that you finished that burrito in under 5 minutes. that burrito is a lot bigger in person!

First of all: great job as always! It is very convenient that shortly before you arrived, that the jackpot got claimed without any evidence of it and even the guy himself said, that he wasn't within the regulations (if he did it in the first place in that time). Then, as you stated, you were planning your trip around this challange which also puts in a monetary factor that have to be compensated if they indeed scammed you. To be honest, i would sue them not only for the lost money, but for a compensation of your trip since this was apparently the reason why you even went there. When there is money at play, people always try to get creative to have an advantage.
You got hoodwinked. Something isn't right immediately when they say the guy just happens to be back in the building. He either really loves their food or knows someone there and I'd reckon it is the 2nd option. They knew they were going to lose and made that up. I think it's fair to call ahead and make sure the challenge is available but don't tell them you are a competitive eater. Or check day of from now on. I wouldn't return to that business unless they address this honestly and offer to make it right.

I won't repeat what I've heard from others about these types of establishments, but I do feel you got ripped off. I'm sorry to hear this too. To me, it seems that there are more of these places that will than won't rip you off. I am glad ou put it out there what happened at this place. In the end, you did get a free meal and tee, but they do draw in business by people like you too, Scott. Not by just you, but others who come to watch or anyone they may advertise to that a challenge is taking place on such and such day. You crushed it! Be proud!

Yeah. They probably had an idea that a competitive eater was coming and didn't want to part with that money. Also I LOVE it when you share the restaurants name. Just like good publicity, the bad restaurants should be made aware to people so they don't waste their time and money for cheating people out of a bad deal. It's only fair to report the good AND the bad equally so people know.

I think I would've waited a few days and just called as a random caller and asked if they still had the 1500 jackpot challenge. Then if they said yes, they obviously cheated you. Sounds pretty fishy all the way around. That could've bought a lot of pinatas and pickles!
Luckily the places that do shady things are less then 1% of the places that have food challenges. But they are out there and I think all competitive eaters encounters them at least once in their career. Hopefully everyone in the competitive eating community keeps records and shares that info amongst each other so they know to stay away from those locations. Plus you did amazing at the speed eating. That’s some Molly level speed there.

I think that if you go back and bring the fact that they have pictures of lower but not the person that won the $1500 then suddenly a picture will appear of someone who has "won" the challenge. Either way you did an amazing job, you could have beaten the anaconda challenge hands down, you proved that today. Great job 👏
If they offer a jackpot it has to be there no matter who wins it! That's some bullshit and it should be reported to the health, safety and compliance office! I would also put a complaint in against them with the state's attorneys office!! I wouldn't let them get away with it!! Sounds like Roman was a decoy so they didn't have to fork over the money !! You’re to nice Scott. I would of put them in blast told their name and location straight up so others don’t get screwed. Especially since you planned your trip around that challenge and hopes of having that $1,500 to spend. To many times places know the RU-vidr is coming and look them up and know they will probably win the challenge so they lie. Cheat them out of the prize. Or cheat by making a 5lb item close to 10lb. Or change time limits. It’s happened to Joel. To randy a couple times. While a few others as well like Adam (beard). People watch the RU-vidrs and usually want ti try the place out if it’s good and in their area. Which is why Resturants like when they get that kind of hood publicity. While the cheating places or shady places should be put on blast so people don’t try to go there and attempt their challenges from shady and untrustworthy places that would do this. Would be interested to see if you had someone else call who claims isn’t a pro and just wants to try to win the jackpot if they say it’s still available or if they still advertise it a bit down the road with a high amount jackpot again. Wow. Terribly dishonest . So shady! I would be angry and want revenge. If enough pro eaters saw this video, what do you think would happen? My first thoughts are that this place doesn't deserve the free advertising they get from pro eaters. My humble opinion. But, I know that y'all pro eaters follow a code of ethics, unlike this place.
