With a GET ecu and WiFi comm device it takes like 15 seconds to connect a cell phone and like another 3 seconds to upload a new map. I’m sure a lot of the teams are using this trick not just star
It's not a concern of open pipes. He's talking about a tune. Which yeah tunes can make a bike louder and more powerful or loud and less powerful vice versa etc etc
I’m confused… so Star “may” have the ability to adjust their bikes to pass sound testing.. BUT.. they decided not to adjust for Smith & Anste so they pass the test?! Mmmm… interesting..
Yeah, it wouldn’t look suspicious that all their bikes wouldn’t run at sound test. Ok, makes a lot if since. 😂😂 Deegan already got caught with a cheater bike once. Using a bike that cost over $100,000 in the amateur races. I know it didn’t help that’s why they do it.
If i was racing Haiden and getting my ass kicked on a wedkly basis I would be looking for excuses also. That sounds way better than I just cant keep up with him.
The question is "are Star Racing using tech to get around the exhaust sound test? Yet all the pro Deegan fans are answering with "sound test is stupid", "stop picking on Deegan" "Deegan can win on anything" "Deegans bike is actually slower and yet he is still kicking butt". In my eyes Deegan has had 1 strike already when he made sure nobody got to claim his bike(remember that?), now 2 strikes at Southwick when somehow the bike magically couldnt start for the sound test. One more strike and I would give him a holiday so that he rethinks his life choices in MX/SX and see if its worth throwing it all away just to cheat a little.
imagine seeing all the sub-par results of just about every star rider besides deegan and still trying to pretend that the bike is the difference. These teams are beginning to get desperate because the handwriting is on the wall. From now onward and for the foreseeable future, there is going to be only one rider winning in the 250 class; His name is DNGR.
If this is happening, all teams are doing it not just Star so eh🤷🏾♂️. Plus loads of people were failing sound at Southwick including privateers so idk, JT mention it might’ve been the weather or something
@MrIke303 You have to put ear plugs in even with the restrictions for SX. That is if you care about your kids. Nothing sader then to see a bunch of Rednecks at a SX race with babies or little kids and no hearing protection
How would Star let a bike fail if they had that technology? People just want some excuse why Haiden is winning. Johnny, your infatuation with Vialle shines through with you putting this rumor out.
I seen somewhere that Chase’s dad said “my son has just past his 7th drug test this season”! Probably a subliminal to the test people to start testing everyone else the same? Dude gets drug test weekly cause he’s a machine!
@@troyhodulik5542 yea prob cause he won everything, what I'm saying is if Sextons been tested 3x or 10x then Jett and Hunter and other top riders should be tested the same amount!
@@defconone681 The AMASX/MX testing rules state all riders that finish on the podium get tested plus 2 randoms,(plus anyone that looks drugged out) so the riders finishing on the podium like Jett, Hunter, Chase etc are getting tested the most. Geez a lot of people on here whinge about anything.
Keep doing moto stuff like the cool line seltections etc. and be the bigger man and stay out the drama bro, it makes you look negative. Ive been subscribed for a long time. Don't let stupid shit drag your channel down please, Eat your cosco cookies and do your cool breakdown stuff!!!
If VW did it to millions of diesel cars, a team that can change maps remotely will do it to cheat for sure. PS: cooksey is butthurt that you outgrew his childish ways.
Sound checks in a motor sport is ridiculous. As long as the engine displacement and other specs are in compliance it shouldn’t matter how loud the bike is.
"And other specs are in compliance" ...like sound. Keeps the fan experience bearable, keeps exhaust companies in business or else they'd do ridiculous things with the exhaust, and keeps the riders hearing intact.
@@jakerivets2249 Nationals tracks aren’t in urban areas….neither are drag strips, NASCAR tracks, open wheel tracks, super bike tracks….you get the idea.
@@Johnny_Hopper I get it. It’s just silly. The other guys bikes failed but they weren’t running 2:11s or beating Deegan so the argument is kind of silly
Absolutely true if you look at Vance & Hines and dynojet fuelpak programmers they are all Bluetooth.. new AMA rule change will be no wireless programming allowed.. all bikes must be hardwired to program ECU.. same rule happened to Harley-Davidson AMA is aware of the situation..
You want to the rev out and push engine before the race? Asking for Bike failures...they do it after the race so it can't be modified prior to the race, the bikes are hot and peak performance, and doesn't matter if bike dies.
@MrIke303which in my opinion is entirely the reason a different tune would get loaded. If I was that team I would put a safe tune in the bike so it didn’t blow up on the stand. If you knew someone was going to free rev the fuck out of a very expensive race engine. UNLOADED. On a stand….. Like you said. They cost $$$$. It’s very bad to sit there and free rev an engine in neutral. Sound checks hurt my soul as do the rev offs when people win lol. I feel bad for the engine guy. 😂😂😂😂
Think deegs and vialle do the same as sexton and jett. I think thats what pisses deegs off with vialle. I dont see duffy letting them lose for a sound dq. Im sure he packs the shit out of that pipe knowing how much haiden revs.
No way! They would be screaming from the hills. Anything Deegan does in their eyes is gold. Anything Jett or Hunter does is a crime apparently. This is nothing more than a Deegan fanboy channel. Deegan fans are completely delusional.
@@st25at yep, Ive niced that too. Delusional AND moronic. Im waiting for somebody/anybody to answer the question "could Star Racing be doing things to get around the sound testing?"
Loopholes in motorsport love 'em. When we do noise tests in the UK for car racing they ask what the maximum revs are and we have to rev it 3/4 of max revs...believe me no one tells them their true max revs.
I can't believe all these posts where people think it's ok to cheat, do any of you have any integrity at all? Good luck with the cheating guys, you will cheat your whole life away.
@MrIke303 I don't think Deegan is cheating either and I have seen Jet really feather his clutch on gate drops and he has a talent for getting the starts, these guys don't need to cheat lol.
Yep star Yamaha is gaming the system thay are sketchy for sure...what do you mean they couldn't get the revs up its a race bike... They would have to get the revs up or they wouldn't pass the way I see it... Who would let them skate on that???
The "sound rule" only makes sense in stadium hence why its more important in Supercross in my opinion. Outdoors it just makes no sense to have a sound check.
Heard on Pulp a privateer had is Q1 time thrown out. Sound checks should be done well before practice starts. Star should have been penalized for CHEATING!!
obviously there's no 'gaming' with mufflers if 'Star' is getting caught. Watching timing and scoring, if it wasn't for Deegan, the Yamaha's are not 'dominate'.
Because there are sound decibel outputs for safety. Even with the restrictions in place it still exceeds normal exposure ratings for children. That's why if you take your kid to a SX race without hearing protection you're either an idiot or don't care about your kids.
@@kurtheidelbach this is not sx. I’m fine with db output max levels for indoors. This is mx. Professional mx. There are no db checks at any track other than pro nationals. It is dumb.
all the factories have the ability as well as most "privateers"....I don't see why there is a sound rule in the outdoors at all.....or SX for that matter or any place in the boondocks...sound tests and weight limits are both simply stupid
Ruined JS7's career. He took a cold medicine that wasn't approved. He missed an entire yr and wasn't the same when he came back. Sexton has been tested 7 times so far this yr. Not sure if anyone else has had 1/2 that many or double. Transparency would be nice. As for Star and Deegan, with the way he's riding he's got no reason to cheat. Nor does anyone on his team. Maybe impound top 5 bikes immediately after race and do sound test with mechanic and his map changing instruments and test all the different map settings. What an exciting year this outdoor season has become. I'm hoping for a Sexton Championship and Deegan can keep from getting injured trying to ride faster than the track might allow. He's a hell of a rider. Pray every rider can avoid any injuries.
Kinda interesting that people are pointing the “sell out” finger. I just compared 3 random Cooksy and Johnny Hopper videos from the last 12 days and at least 10 minutes long and I’d like to discuss some stats 30 minute of video, total add time Cooksy: 4:30 Hopper: 0
Wow, hit'em with a feather Bro. If a team is changing the map to pass sound, it is cheating period not "perception " As far as I understand the reason they would run it like that is for more power? Am I missing something. Now I would also say that nothing official has been released on an investigation but this would be terrible.
This is a pretty interesting video, Johnny! Very interesting take on the performance enhancing testing. On that note, I was starting to ask myself the same thing here. I have a 24.5 KTM 450 and a 24 YZ450 both of which you can easily adjust the map within less than 90 minutes with the connected phone.
Heaps of ways to do it to change map with out bluetooth. Gear position sensor. Speed. Clutch position. Would a map really make a massive difference to the sound in a sound check? I think lots of bikes over years have had different ignition timing in neutral to change the noise output slightly?? Maybe I’m wrong
Wouldnt it be easier to have a pre loaded map and a sneaky button combination to change map, we know most bikes have a few different maps already like luanch mode, race mode, fule conserve mode is it inconceivable to have a pre loaded map by hitting a certian combination of buttons to turn it on/off ......... most teams probably do it have it, or could it be a simple solenoid in the exhaust that restricts flow like you find on some cars who knows 🤷♂️ but through the TV, the Yamahas are way louder audibly than every other bike out there this could be put down to a number of things but it wouldnt suprise me if they were to loud.
Just like with everything with technology there is good and bad. Every Yamaha bike and exhaust isn't exactly the same so no it isn't surprising that one bike can fail and another pass. Varg has a pretty good approach of locking down adjustments for a certain amount of time as one possible approach. Bluetooth has an extremely short range so they would have to be doing it with close proximity to the bike. Almost all new bikes have multiple maps on the bike itself controlled by the rider. The rules don't currently state that all maps must be checked or that only one map can be run I don't think. It would be interesting to understand how they test or limit that.
Testing should be random from those 40th to 1st.. but don't make it look obvious by testing same rider and not the others in top 10. That's too much not random. As far as what they are testing. Test what they are looking for.. I'm sure it ain't illegal drugs. Shouldnt be prescription drugs either if that's the case.. as far as sound test. If they are using multiple maps they all should be tested in each map.. then no crying cheating or whatever..
Loving Haiden's attack mode. Unfortunately that particular style throughout mx history has been great for winning and even better for season ending injuries year after year after year. I hope it doesn't happen. His bike and body control from all the freestyle riding when he was younger has put him in a class above the other riders. Keep it on two wheels. Don't become Kenny.
I can see sound test before you ride but not after. Those bikes get so hot and the packing can be cooked away at some point the way these guys can ride. It’s stupid cause each time you add another bike your sound level goes up. Just like 100 ppl are louder at the same decibel as 20 ppl. Just like adding more speakers each speaker adds a couple more decibels. The only time it’s really loud is when all the bikes at once take off. Who gives a crap. Have you heard a drag car?
Hey Johnny I'd love to get your thoughts on Chase Sexton moto 2 i believe its 1st or 2nd lap, little off track excursion and re entry without giving up a position or looking to see if it was safe and full gas........ should this have been a 1 spot penalty.
Aren't they running aftermarket ECU's? Do those ECU's have the same bluetooth tech attached to them as the OEM ECU? And if that is the case, that means that anyone would have this available to them, not just Star.
They can 100 percent do that and have been able to do so for awhile. There are so many trucks in supercross people used to do like stuff rags in the air box and close everything up in the air box. They would put the exhaust in the freezer or ice cooler to make the examiner cold. There are some many things that can be done. Believe me I have seen a lot of things and done a few to pass sound when I was racing supercross 10 plus years ago. So you can only imagine what a factory team will and can do to push the limits.
It’s absolutely plausible. So many riders have brought up how loud the STAR bikes are. I personally think the series and racing in general would be better if there was more parody between the bikes
Absolutely...what they testing sound anyway..the whole sight and sound is what creates the whole excitement of racing..cars or bikes..especially when its at professional rider or car drivers levels
I was huge in cycling during the doping days and it was stated if you weren’t cheating you weren’t trying. I guess the same applies here, if your not doing every to get and edge are you even trying.
I wish Jett and Hunter would just go race MXGP at this point. Someone like Jeffery Herlings can humble them. They're not bringing anything to the sport here in America, considering no one can compete with them unless they make mistakes. American riders and European riders are their own breed and should not be mixed in. I want to see battles for first between Sexton, Anderson, Plesinger, Barcia, etc. To many honest American riders to name. They all sit below the lawrence brothers because they've likely convinced themselves that they can't win against them which is sad, the competition should never be like that. The Lawrence brothers have collectively killed the confidence of almost the whole 450 field. Call me a cope or hater, whatever that's just how I've comprehended it.
If that was true KTM would be doing the same thing. They are very big into the mapping and changing things up. So if Star is doing it im sure everyone would be doing it.
Of course they can adjust that. Its simple lower the rev limiter and run it leaner. Its simple to fix just ad a tachometer lead to the plug wire. There is enough technology where each team nows where max power is at.
Ecu is not gonna make the bike louder.. lighter packing or modified exhaust that will make more power on top end will be alot louder.. being a sand track they are gonna need all the top end power they can get..
Sure they can run two maps and it can be altered as he comes off the track by a Team guy with a cell connected by Blue Tooth to the bike as he goes by. Testing the bike in a booth won't change that. If you can alter the Map remotely without plugging in, there will be cheating. STAR bikes do have more power from what I have seen this year. Too much Tech....it just makes it even harder on the Privateer.
That star yamaha team has been shady for years gives off alessi vibes to me the only rider i like on that team is max anstie and while i understand why he did it its hard to not lose a bit of respect for him. That team is full of cheating.
