It's still a spiritual practice the Chechens have done for a very long time. I think its from before the time of Islam in Chechnya. And they incorporated it when they were xoncuered by Muslims, because they wanted to keep their roots to the old religion they had. Because that strenghtened their souls. I can understand them.
