My message cleared by itself.I cleaned it Thursday and Saturday morning when i started the truck it was gone.I was driving it normal distances not to far.I used injector cleaner on a rag that covered the funnel.Dont wrap the rag.Just cover the funnel. Also if you lost yours auto parts stores carry them.Covering the funnel helps to clean it good.Thats all i used.
My local O'Reilly's didn't have compressed air so I just tried the seafoam spray and it worked like a charm. I cleared my engine code and it never came back. 2010 Ford escape!
Thank you! I know basically nothing about cars and your video helped me fix my problem and clear my code on my 2011 Ford Escape! So grateful for guys like you!
Will be attempting this on my fusion tomorrow, was confused how a capless system was having an inlet issue so I'm glad to see there were others seeing the same fault. Thanks!
THANK YOU!!! It worked for my 2010 F-150 And resetting the check engine light by disconnecting the battery is absolutely brilliant. Thank you again for the tips.
and thank you for that .... I have a 2010 F-150 with that "check fuel inlet" problem and i am glad to see this worked for you ..... I'll be trying it tomorrow !!!!!!
@@TopShotta805 .... No , mine required a part replacement .... vacuum thing , can't remember what it was , was a long time ago .... I had a mechanic diagnose it , replace the part , wasn't expensive , was like $125 total or something like that ..... on top of the engine towards the back , small part , but hard to get to ..... I can change parts , it's the diagnosing I have troubles with , so I just let the mechanics do it ..... plus I live in an apt and we only have one vehicle , so it's hard for me to work on my truck , get parts , all that jazz ..... I'm sort of forced to "go to the mechanic and get er done"
Thank You! My 2011 F-150 was giving me the same messages: check engine light on and CHECK FUEL FILL INLET message. I followed your instructions exactly. Two weeks later I was just giving up hope that it was going to work, Then I started my truck today and all lights and messages were gone! I'M A BELEIVER!
Great video. This WORKED! I used WD-40 and the plastic filler tube that can be found near the spare tire. A five minute fix! I used an OBD-II reader to clear the code. The check engine light hadn’t come on but there was a fault code that showed up when I used the OBD-II reader. So far the message hasn’t come on again. 😊
I disconnected the battery, used a piece of old but clean rubber garden hose (instead of the plastic gadget you show in the video, which I do not have), squirted some SeaFoam and moved the hose in and out etc, reconnected the battery an hour later, both errors gone (check engine, fuel fill). The cheapest OBD2 you show that I can find here in Canada is on ebay (I do not use amazon) direct from Hong Kong, free shipping. Likely that is where they are made. Thank you and Cheers!
This worked! Thank you for this. It took a few days for the light to go off and the check engine light but it worked! I have a Ford Fusion. Thanks again!
Worked for me! Light came on, was there for a few days. Eventually the check engine light came on. I performed this fix using carb cleaner (all I had) one day, did it the next day as a "just in case". Cleared check engine light, started truck, and light gone. Have run truck for 1 week, over 600 miles with no recurring issues.
So glad I found this video. I own a 2013 Ford Mustang and received a fuel intake error code and after a couple days of driving down the freeway my engine light came on. Received the PO 457 code and did what this video suggested. Hopefully after this tutorial, inspecting , and clearing out the code it all works out. And ive passed my smog check barely 2 weeks ago! So…. 🎉🎉🎉
It worked for me as well! Didn’t have to disconnect the battery. After cleaning it drove 10 miles or so and hit “reset” and the message went away, but the light was still on. After restarting my car it was all gone. I used brake cleaner instead because all the old heads at the auto parts store said that’s what they would use lol. “Get the flammable kind, and don’t get it in your paint.” Is what they said, lol.
Its pretty common for this to be your purge valve solenoid as well. If this doesn't work odds are its the valve. Its usually a really cheap part and a super easy fix.
Thanks for mentioning this! I tried the stuff in this video, which may have helped, but it ended up being the purge valve, which I would not have thought of without your comment.
I just did exactly what you said and the Check Fuel Fill Inlet error went away. I wish I had done it exactly like you said before. I tried to clean the nozzle with WD-40 the problem didn't went away. Brought the pickup to a garage and they put fumes inside the motor and confirm that the gas cap was leaking. Ford suggest to change the whole pipe... It's $400 Cdn.. Said never mind, paid for the fume test and the computer test. Bought a can of Sea foam just like you showed , and a OBD device. Re-cleaned the inlet with the Sea Foam, erase the 2 error and after a 20 minutes drive it didn't come back again. Hopefully this will solve the problem, up until I go back to the cottage. Driving 200Miles on a dirt road makes a lot of dust lift up in the air....
Thank you sir great video after filling up my tank this morning the light in my 2011 fusion came on after inspecting it i cleaned it sprayed with air an oiled it no more light on thanks a million...
Man thank you for this video! I have a fbo 2015 Mustang GT and I recently got that message on the dash ‘Check Fuel Fill Inlet’ good to know somebody else has also experienced this. Badass car by the way man! 💪🏽
I got this code right after I put gas in my 2014 F-150 that has 155,000 miles on it. So I'm going to try this fix that you gave! I'll comment back to let you know how it worked out worked out.
Just wanted to say this was a great demonstration, (I personally used WD-40) I managed to clear my “Check fuel fill inlet” light and somehow it also cleared my P2096 code which I was glad about since that meant I didn’t need to replace my o2 sensor which they told me might be the problem. -2010 F-150 XLT 4.6 v8
We think alike man, I don’t have any Seafoam tho I have used it over the years in my gas. I do have WD-40 so will try, it could be my “capless” gas opening is not sealing completely on my 2011 Lincoln.
Straight to the point!! Been having this issue for months and every shops tells me I need a gas cap 🙄 and just to check in the ford dealer the issue they charge $150. I hope this works
I tried this with fuel injector cleaner and my engine light came back within 48 hours. I’m going to try it with sea foam and see. Thanks! That little light of mine has been shining for 6 months.
I think you're right. The check engine light cam on after I filled the gas tank. I will follow your suggestions on Monday and let you know the results. Thanks for the tip.
Thank u sooo much!! Worked like a charm. Used ur technique and products for my dads F150 2014. He only had to reset the engine light and not do the disconnect of truck battery. Viola!! Definitely saved him some money 💰!!
2011 Ford escape, already did the seafoam a couple days ago for regular maintenance right about the same time the light came on after getting my oil changed. Then just a few minutes ago I saw it say check fuel inlet googled what it was clicked on your video now and I'll get home I'll unhook the battery and hopefully the lights will turn off, thank you.
I am so glad to have found this video it worked for me thank you thank you so much. And I also bought a gas cap with a key lock just to keep a debris out. After driving 8 miles the fuel inlet came off my dash board.
I am happy I came across your channel and it fixed my car - the message went away but the check engine is still there. I think It belongs another issue. Anyway thanks for this quick fix and subscribed
Yayyy! It worked...one can of Seafoam a little bit of high octane gas it cleared up in one day on the freeway! Thanks so much, u are quick and to the point!
Hi, all! I have a 2010 Mercury Milan Hybrid (essentially the same car as the Ford Fusion). I haven't done this, yet, but plan to use carb cleaner, which should be just as effective in breaking down any gasoline residue/buildup. I have a few suggestions that may help improve the "fix," as well as an important piece of info for those of you who can't clear the code or saw it come back immediately and think that maybe this wouldn't work. I suggest that you use your finger (preferably in a gasoline/chemical resistant glove) and a lint-free cloth soaked with carb cleaner to rub the contact point of the metal "flap" after you spray it to remove any buildup of sludge/dirt/gasoline residue to improve the success rate. You may have to release both latches on either side of the flap to get it to unlock and open. This happens automatically when you insert the funnel provided with the car (or a gasoline nozzle), but using your finger can be tricky, so be patient and understand that the flap is normally locked closed. Once it's opened you should also try to rub the area the flap seals to, in order to remove debris/residue buildup. You also will want to clean and lubricate the rubber sealing surfaces on the outer door in order to help keep dirt and dust out of the fueling area. I've noticed that some people use a thin coat of WD-40 or light oil to help lubricate and seal all of the rubber gaskets, as well as the locking flap. I intend to use all of these methods to clean/lubricate/seal my faulty fuel inlet. I should note that this is apparently a common problem with any Ford vehicles that use this type of capless system, so regular cleaning/maintenance is essential in preventing this problem from recurring. When I first saw the error message, my car was low on fuel, so I poked my finger into the filler to see if there was an obvious obstruction when I went to the gas station. I didn't find one, but worked the self-sealing flap several times with the hope that it would seal better. Now that I know there is an electronic sensor in the system I realize that I will need to spray/clean/lubricate the contact points to make the problem go away, if this is indeed the reason the error message pops up. Now, here is the important piece of info that you'll want to know about clearing the error message/code ... The owner's manual states that it can take several days and drive cycles before the error message resolves on its own and goes away. I noticed that many people reported that the error message cleared after a day or two of driving, which makes sense regarding what the owner's manual tells us to expect. I am cautiously optimistic that this approach will successfully remedy the problem - thanks for posting the video! ;-)
I tried this and cleared code on my fusion, check engine light went away for 2 days and came back. Turns out it’s my fuel pump. But definitely good info , will definitely help out some folks who just had a dirty cap
issue came up april 2024 on my 2014 mustang gt. fuel fill inlet error code only. used can of air, sea foam and battery disconnect. ran the cleaning procedure twice. didnt get any codes after the reset. this worked for me thanks.
I bought a mustang gt 2011 it had the filler light on I was going order the filler tube but now I'm try this also found a special cap for it that cost 30 it even comes with a key
@@BubbaBlueTube Hey...Before you did the quick fix, did you experience the vehicle hesitating while accelerating at freeway speeds? I ask because a week or so ago my fuel inlet notification popped on just for a moment. I had an odb scan several times but NO fault codes popped up even though the check engine light came on and came back on after being cleared...Just wondering if the faulty fuel inlet could cause that acceleration hesitation during high speeds without any fault codes popping up on an odb scan...
I agree. This stuff is awesome. Plus it helped me here clean around that cap, so I’m happy lol big rising issue for ford, and a lot of people are getting their entire fuel necks replaced!
Just tried this on my 2011 Edge, which has this issue and a misfire. I used the ForScan program to clear the codes, as I had it from when I upgraded to Sync 3 after my Sync 2 radio died. So far, the code hasn’t come back, but the misfire is still there. Will check it out more tomorrow to see if it may fix both issues, but worst case I’ll probably need a tune up.
@@BubbaBlueTube I sure do hope so! I just wish that Ford didn’t make it so hard to get at those back plugs. You have to take the intake off to get at them!
Thanks for posting. I've had this issue for a while on my 2010 f-150. I've cleaned/lubricated fuel gate (as shown in your video), but am unfortunate enough to still get the p0457 code after the computer tests again. So it looks like there is a sensor/solenoid in the filler neck itself that can go bad, which means the entire neck assembly has to be replaced. Just offering this as an "also possible" with that OBDll code and "check fuel inlet" message.
Omfg thanks for sharing this information. My 2012 ford focus is having the issue. I have even sent the car to my mechanic and he is having no luck finding the issue and solution. I am going to try this today or even call him to see if he can do that.
Thanks corrected my check engine alarm sea foam what best dealer did not know how to fix.now i can get inspection. dealer wanted to change my fill neck.
Good video production and editing work. In these times of high inflation, tips for us DIY vehicle owners benefit from your videos. I like the good products you chose for the job. BUT the Ford Easy Fill funnel was filthy and you went and washed that contamination with the Seafoam spray into your gas tank. When I do this I'll first clean the funnel with a clean rag and the Seafoam. Please keep on doing videos.
