yeah it seems like they were trying to let players skip the tedious menu clicking routines on obviously easy mobs while preserving the brain challenge of strategy games on harder bsses which is interesting i guess but its still a strategy game at its core

@@fattestallenalive7148 P5 did this too, but it took way too long for it to have any value cuz you had to max out Ryuji's SL. Having this from the get go and having it be core part of Metaphor's combat system while making it a real time combat system all its own is genius.

@SushiGhost97 Ryuji's social link is unlocked early in the game and it only requires rank 7. It's quite possible to get to that point before you even finish half the dungeons

Sadly sometimes lengthy demos hurt more than help sales. Granted the data that shows that is over 10 years old.

Because if most people played an extended demo of a Ubisoft game for example, people would be less likely to buy as they will see through their marketing facade and ineptitude for making good fun video games.

Spent all day after work yesterday playing the demo. I'm big Atlus fan so I was going to get it anyway but good to have. Never took Mort as someone interested in Atlus games (I know he did SMTV but that was sponsored).

I always hate demo's because they make me lose interest in the game. Playing it then waiting weeks for the actual game to come out feels pointless for these types of games because the flow is all gone

I played the demo and LOVED it, and I am also a big persona 3-4-5 fan as well. This is also my October game as well. I’m normally a western rpg fan, especially crpgs - but with avowed and kingdom come deliverance 2 delayed to next year this shot up to my most anticipated game of 2024. Also, another unrelated/random game I suggest looking out for is Mirthwood, if you like the “life-sim” aspect for RPGs like persona/metaphor/elder scrolls/and Fable. The game really gives me 2D Fable vibes - its got that storybook/fairy tale kind of charm.

@@_george84a lot of elements in metaphor such as the press-turn combat stem from SMT, which I really recommend you try if you enjoyed persona.

Every single thing that pops up on the screen has so much flavor, as a big fan of SMT and Persona i expected this spin-off to be a throwaway but to my surprise the anime cut scenes the voice acting THE MUSIC and gameplay is simply amazing. The prologue is arguably the best the two series have yet had. Let me know if anyone disagrees!

I would like Atlus to experiment more with gameplay in new ip’s and move away from their «safe winning» formula more often. And how other bloggers defend this game, saying that it is something different, but I see before me all the same things that I saw in their main franchises, just in a new cover. I would like to be wrong. I played Atlus games over 1000 hours and I want more changes.

The anime cutscenes aren't amazing, if anything they are a step down from p5. They are starting to use CGI for some reason and it doesn't look good when they use it. Also despite the graphical style being on point, the graphics themselves are comparable to p5. Which is not a good thing considering that's a ps3 game. Also Also, it's very derivative of persona and other atlus games (SMT). Still, it was pretty fun and it has probably the best prologue of any big game the persona studio has made yet, and it being too much like persona isn't really a bad thing

Honestly I was hardly ever bored playing Persona 5 they refined their formula really well and the progression in Metaphor is an improvement even on that so far with being able to switch around archetypes between all party members and the synergy skill combinations that come with it. Having a new setting and musical style is a big difference too. I have played Atlus games over a 1000 hours as well and I think they have done enough to differentiate Metaphor an moving away from a winning formula for no other reason than moving away would probably just be worse off. At the end of the day when I play an jrpg I want good story, combat, music, and a sense of wonder which Metaphor does everything pretty well so far.

@@bigzachful P5 originally came out on the ps3 and ps4. A few years later they remade it into p5 royal with extra stuff. This version was developed for the ps4 and since the ps5 is backwards compatible, you can play it on ps5

I'll definitely be playing this on release. I'm a huge Persona fan and I've wanted a more fantasy setting in their games for awhile. I'm killing time by replaying Black Myth and Nine Sols until Metaphor drops.

I'm a massive JRPG & Atlus fan and I've been incredibly excited for this game since its reveal. The fantasy setting looks spectacular and it'll be refreshing to play a different character to the usual school teen!

I'm excited to give this one a try. I downloaded the demo, only to get maybe 15 minutes into it before deciding to hold off and wait for the full release. I want that continuity of playing it all without a several week break in between.

My first Atlus game was P5R when it came to Xbox, loved it so much but then it went off game pass since I got distracted. Recently bought it and discovered the deno for Metaphor Refantazio, and once again the story, visuals characters and combat are drawing me in again. Which is amazing because aside from a select 3-4 JRPG's, I hate the rest.

This is more SMT than persona, is a weird mix, but at least combat wise is like SMT V, double kajas/kundas, press turns. The difference is that the new system is much more complex than persona's and SMT one The other big difference is that you don't get wiped (finally) if MC dies

Honestly, Denuvo is what irks me the most about this game, but what can you do, its Atlus and Sega, they had to twist their arm to breaking point for us to get their games on PC. That being said, this is my jam. This is what I've been waiting for the entire year and I hope it delivers.

I like Atlus game in general so it will be a buy for me. The mixed mode combat is great tough, it has the best of 2 worlds by not having the annoyance of multiple turn battle fight when you are too strong, while still giving you the opportunity to be strategic on harder one.

One part of me was, ‘I don’t need this demo, I will just wait two more weeks’… the other part of me was ‘shut up fool’, needless to say, I played it and loved every single moment. I love the Persona games. They are a work of art, I don’t need to agree with everything they are doing, I play them on their terms.

The demo was incredible, it got me wanting to start a fresh playthrough on persons 5 Royal while I wait out the 2 weeks for the full game now. I do wish they'd scrapped the calendar system for this one but, I'm not totally complaining either I guess. I have no doubt it's going to be my new favorite atlus game.

played the demo, proceeded to buy the game right after. Game has such a vibe , just like persona. The fantasy setting is very cool. You dont lose hours of playtime now if you die, it loads moments before. action combat for killing mobs lower level than you is a really nice idea. cool story and characters, yeah good stuff.
