Hi Mary Burke. I really am proud of your construction accomplishments and it great to enjoy a lady/female/woman :) attack things that some reality TV Housewifes would scrug! I have a 50 year background of building homes on stilts that were on the oceanfront of the OBX, North Carolina before I was 20 years old and I advanced my knowledge by building custom fishing yachts 4 years later. I have to say my greatest days came when I was asked to work on the Williamsburg Historical Society's Grant to do the historical restoration of President John Tyler's home called "Sherwood Forest Plantation". It is THE longest wood-framed building in the entire USA at 111 yards end to end. I just wanted to give you credit and support for your future construction plans opposed to some other comments talking about "ta-tas" and I can almost promise You that not 1 of them are Rick Flair~! Well done Mary! Setting 18 poles 4’ in ground, concreting them and at the same time keeping the square poles plumb and in line is no easy task. You just keep proving that women can do anything! Go sister!,❤❤
Soil really should not touch the wood even if it’s PT (pressure treated). At my cabin I buried PT post and they have held up good for small decks but for my cabin they need to attached to a plate and then connected to the concrete not letting the soil touch the wood. PT will start to draw up moisture eventually and rot. I’d show you a picture of my cabin posts but I don’t know how to send pictures if your interested.
There are pressure treated Timbers made for burial or contact however you're right will last a lot longer with no contact I suggest marine grade a bit more spendy but well worth it lasts a long time
Are they treated Mary, forgive my ignorance but I'm Australian and we have to treat them with a Copper, Chromium and arsenic treatment so termites or thanks to the Kiwis boarers don't eat them in 5 minutes and turn them into paper pulp.
Hello Mary, I don’t believe there’s anything in this world that you cannot do. Yes, you do have some big poles you were so very handy and everything you do. I am very precise. I love everything about you and your farm. You must be building a pole barn or storage shed. The last one I built was 50 foot wide and a 100 feet long it was used for a repair shop. Love your videos, and I love you everything you do you’re a very sweet lady
