Take a quick speeder ride to the White Pine County Museum on the rebuilt passenger main between East Ely and Ely Nevada.
The Nevada Northern has been working on repairing and rebuilding the old tracks of the historic Nevada Northern in Ely Nevada. The first track rebuilt was the original main line to the mines in Robinson Canyon. As the track ran right through the center of town a block off of Main Street the locals "asked" that the track be moved outside of town. So a bypass was built around Ely and the original main was only used for passenger trains to the Ely Depot.
Later there was a plan to turn this old mainline into a trolly line but the project failed and the tracks were removed. But now the old main has been rebuilt and they are giving speeder rides to the edge of the White Pine County Museum and soon the speeder will tie up at the old Cherry Creek Depot inside the museum. AND someday soon, a locomotive will service the line!
OH!! And the next track to be rebuilt will be the mill line to the depot at McGill. SOON!!
