That thing just skims atop the water, has nice patina & electrics of a bygone era, happy zombie slaying!

Reversing polarity with another switch would give you reverse... That squeaking may be the motor bearing.

Man, you need a gofundme page to turn this thing into a marketable little cruising and fishing canoe... very cool.

Using the resistive speed controller is not very energy efficient you should step up to a pulse width modulated speed controller because those ni-chromewires are just creating heat with the energy from the battery and a pulse width modulated system doesn't do that it basically switches the power on and off really fast to control the speed without wasting any power.

Very cool! I have a west wight potter 19 that I am converting into a little trawler by raising the cabin top about 20", adding windows and bringing steering and motor control's inside.... have some crazy idea of adding the pontoons with about 1200 watts of solar power on each side.

I remember seeing your channel when you were working it out 8 years ago ! Your moving that fast with a one hp motor?!!!! You should find you a tredmill and scavenge the typically high torque 2.5 hp motor out of one of those you'll be skeeting across the water !

Four seasons are my pleasure and my 24-volt marine lead acid battery can be maintained through winter storage. All solar powered of course. Some lithium batteries have heaters internal to do the same.

Cool. You could make the sponsons go up and down for more speed. Maybe a hydrofoil.

Regarding the fairness of a single source for a particular product depends mostly on supply & demand issues. If you're the only one producing a product that has little demand, nobody cares. On the other hand if you have a product that everybody wants and your're the only source - this becomes a controlled monopoly.

I believe your coil doesn't slow the electrons down, the resistance in the coil burns off excess energy you don't want. I think you would find that it is more efficient to use a step down transformer..

That boat is so awesome! I built a really crappy solar kayak before. It was slow but fun. I have a fiber glass three person kayak that I really want to set up like yours. I just need to find the time and money😅. I love the electronics on yours. They will last forever!

Nichrome wire to limit speed is a waste of precious energy. Build a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) controller. It won't waste hardly any energy and will be much kinder to your motor if you want it to last. With a PWM controller, you will have variable speed instead of just 3 speeds. Much much better.

There was a recent study that showed that panels angled up (like a sail) will allow for more heat to escape and thus for more electricity to be produced. Excessive Heat = energy loss. It's that fine line of finding the balance. kinda like sailing

Everything good until the battery died out then you need to go back to the zombie infected zone to replace it. Or just get an ordinary kayak and manually paddle it.

this is the future for e-vehicles, cars and motorcycles electricity just isn't the right choice but boats are something different altogether, the lack of friction and weight used as momentum means batteries go further and speed isn't an issue, imagine a trimaran with a huge solar panel roof 6 - 8 times the size of this one,

hello Jaimie, long time viewer. Have you ever considered making a boat, that you could visit the states with ? many people seem to be converting ocean going catamarans to solar, with no mast. The reason i ask, is because i think it would be good content. You really don't need it. you have everything you need there. (well it sure looks that way from here) i enjoy your channel. i like learning other ways to do things. the way you approach things, by solving them with what you have, is really an old technique, that serves you well. i think a big project is really what your channel needs. And by the way, please don't cut up the zombie chopper, just make another boat. and always have fun, be the best dad you can. keep up the good work.

very nice, how about another type of zombie chopper, trike with high lift hang glider kite with electric-pedal paramotor on the back with wide wing with solar at least 16m^2 or say 3.2kW. yep folding ultra-light flexible fabric/solar panel wing. yep kinda like flying water craft.

this is good but what i would do is get rid of back seat make it open so i can sleep in it too and i would also make anchor on the left side so stop drifting.........i recreated your boat beacuse of the efficacy but added sleeping are and anchor well done tho

Why not add a parking switch that reconnects all panels for charging while parked? That way even in cloudy weather you'll charge

maybe its a good idea to have smaller spare motor just in case this one breaks , and make it so its easy to swap them on the go in the dark just in case
