If you are in the process of searching for a home in Kosciusko County you may not know that we have over 100 beautiful natural lakes right here in the county.
We are taking a few moments to share a little bit of info about some of the lakes in our community and today we are talking about Lake Wawasee and Syracuse Lake - both located in Syracuse, IN.
The two lakes are connected by a channel, but Lake Wawasee is the big one. At 3006 acres it clocks in as the largest natural lake in the state of Indiana. It has an average depth of 22 feet and a max depth of 81 feet. Syracuse Lake comes in at 411 acres with an average depth of 13 feet, these two lakes provide everything you could ask for in lake front charm and living.
The lakes have a variety of great fish that include Bluegill, Crappie, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Pumpkinseed, Red-ear, Rock Bass, and Yellow Perch.
The area surrounding the lake has many residentials homes, cabins, vacation rentals, and the beautiful Oakwood Resort and Event Center. You will find many restaurants, local shops, and entertainment options to choose from - including the Wawasee Golf Club which is open daily to the public. You can even book a dinner cruise on Lake Wawasee with the SS Lillypad. Or reach out to the Wawasee Boat Company or Griffith’s Marina to rent your own watercraft for the day. If you get hungry while out on the water head over to one of the boat-in restaurants including The Oakwood, The Frog or The Channel Marker.
Whether you fish, ski, or you simply want to float out to the sandbar for a relaxed day on the lake, take in the magnificent 4th of July fireworks show, or hangout at the Syracuse Park and beachfront you will love these beautiful lakes!
