Can you explain generally what the logic behind check raising bottom pair is? I see it done all the time, but when i do it myself and arrive on the turn, I typically get confused whether or not I'm bluffing, value betting/merging. Do we want to do it when we can get called by worse and fold out better? thx!

you block bottom set, and you should do it more often when you have backddors, you should barrel on turns where you hit your backdoors, and general turns that are not good for your opponents calling range on the flop
