We had two dachshund in a space of 29 years and they were not “dumb” by any means! Give them a blanket and observe the way they make themselves comfortable and cozy. Yes they can be stubborn at times but their companionship is next to none
The issue is not how smart the dachshund is... but how well the dachshund has you trained to solve the problems they have? LOL. Level 1 was only an issue because dachshunds by instinct will protect their noses. So the instant they believe they will get their nose stuck in somewhere, they will back off, go round, under, over, etc., but never through once they suspect their nose will get stuck. Seen this behavior in all of my dachshunds. You notice no fear of the box, which was tighter than the glass? But the dachshund knows they cannot break or chew through the glass like they can a box. Try teaching a dachshund to drink from a glass... they will only do it, if the glass is sufficiently full, or you have to tilt the glass so the water is much closer to the opening, for example.
Thank you so much!🥰🥰🥰 I appreciate you sharing your experience and observations about dachshunds behavior. It's fascinating how their instincts influence their actions, especially regarding their noses and navigating obstacles. Your point about their approach to different materials, like glass versus a box, is very enlightening. I'll keep your advice in mind for future videos. Thanks again for your support and for contributing to the discussion! 💝💝💝
Sie sind intelligente Jäger und wissen, wie man mit Situationen umgeht. Es ist ein uralter Instinkt, wenn sie in ihre Höhlen gehen, um Dachse für Jäger zu jagen. Vielen Dank. Viel Spaß.
The Dachshund is unfortunately a dumber breed (we had two dogs in turn), but is very independent, temperamental and arrogant/brave. Due to its stubbornness, it is very difficult to train. I love dachshunds and wouldn't want another breed, they are pets.
Thanks for sharing.🥰🥰🥰 I agree with you that dachshunds are stubborn dogs and very difficult to train. It took me a long time to let her know that I'm her owner.
Thank you for sharing. Experts say that Dachshunds have average intelligence, but regardless of how smart they are, they are incredibly cute and loyal companions. I love them very much.
They're not so much dumb as ruled by their noses. Being part of the scent hound group they are constantly following their little noses....as if it's pulling and controlling them instead of the other way around. This overwhelming desire to smell EVERYTHING distracts the dog and they become bored easily as well. Keeping them on task simply requires patience and lots of treats. I tell my wife my little guy lives to hump or hunt!! Lol...😮
You're totally right! Dachshund are Scent hounds and they really are driven by their noses. That strong sense of smell can definitely lead to distractions, but with patience and some tasty treats, they can stay more focused! 😂 Thanks for sharing! Have a great day 🥰🥰🥰🤗🤗🤗
