Making my monthly grocery order from Wm home delivery. I added a few pantry staples, not so much for the End of the World, but because it's hurricane season and we've been known to have power interruptions. Did an inventory of what is left in the freezer and fridge, thanks! I have more than I thought, so that allowed the extra for the staples. A productive day thanks to you!
Very good shopping! I try to just shop at my little local grocery store because otherwise I have to drive 30 minutes. No Aldi Store in my state. No good sales at my store this week except for 10# bag of potatoes for $4.99. So, I’ll shop our local Farmers Market on Saturday, but no other shopping for awhile.
I am so happy to have run across your channel a while back. So much great information. I now use your method of double bagging for freezer storage. How did I not think of this! AND today my grandson and I made your 3 ingredient peanut butter cookies. My grandson referred to them as “heavenly”. lol. Looking forward to learning more from you! 👍🏻❤️
Thank you Pat so very much! Sharing your cookie making with your grandson brought a smile to my face. I always say, ‘Having grandchildren is like getting the best part of our children back.’ I’m so glad he likes the cookies and so glad you are here. God bless you and yours!
The chips and snacks at my DG run $3-4/bag. More air in the bag than chips, thats why I don't buy them that often. There's nothing cheap, money wise at any of my stores here in Pennsylvania 😢 . Everything is high priced. I only get $126.00/ month on food stamps, and they run out before the end of the month 😢 I do go to a food pantry twice a month, which helps out a little bit, but every month, its a repeat of foods that were given out the previous month, and that gets boring. At times, the foods are moldy and rotten and not usable and I have to throw them away, which is a waste.
I am eating out f my freezer and buying more stock up food for my pantry as I live in Michigan and I don't drive in snow much any more because of my age 78 and hubby is 80. No need to be out about during this icy and snowy days . lol
Awesome deals. Wish I could get close to those prices here. About to scour the specials and coupons, preparing for disappointment as usual lol oh well.
I have just started using a Avocado oil because it's suppose to be healthy for you.. what I have found in frying salmon burgers and hamburgers is it has a high smoke point set my fire alarm off both times.. I will implement in to salads or wherever I can that is not for cooking and most likely would not buy it again. I bought mine at Sam's Club. I used it in a salad as just a booster for the health benefits and I could not taste it so there is that. Anna In Ohio
I make my own beef tallow so use very little oil. And I don’t buy seed oil. I also use bacon fat. I can’t decide whether I like the avocado oil or not.
You do know you can make a cream of carrot soup from fresh carrots…this is one of cheaper soups to make to stretch your budget. Also, yellow onions can be wrapped in tinfoil and stored in the vegetable bins of your fridge. They will last for months this way. I take my vegetables that are on sale, wash and dry them and freeze them: carrots that are peeled and diced, broccoli, cauliflower, bell peppers that are diced and some in chunks for stir fries, diced and chunks of onions, fresh asparagus cut into one inch pieces, fresh corn left on cob and cut off cob, tomatoes that are starting to not look as fresh as I want them, etc. I have what is called my soup container in my freezer…If there are any leftover vegetables or meat( beef or pork) that has been cooked and not enough for a meal it goes into the soup container. By the end of the month you have enough products for a wonderful vegetable soup! All made from things you might have thrown away, because there wasn’t enough to have as a side dish. If I get a roast or piece of meat that has a bone, I cook the product first, then cut the bone off and it goes into a freezer bag for the soup…just adds so much flavor. Then I make a pan of cornbread to go with it. If the cornbread isn’t all eaten I crumble it into a freezer bag and when I get enough for around three cups( same with crumbled bread… for breadcrumbs) I make some wonderful southern cornbread dressing! You can easily get 4-5 dishes out of a rotisserie chicken. I realize that you got your chicken at a great price, but how much money is being spent on each time you bake or cook it? Might save you money from not having to cook or bake it each time if you by it already cooked( if you can find a place that knows how to and safely does it). When I buy asparagus on sale, I break each piece where it bends, then cut a nice length to roast, that has the tip, the other piece goes into a freezer bag for stir fry and the tougher end that you can cut through is made into a cream of asparagus soup and rest that is too tough to eat is discarded. The soup can be left with the small pieces in it and eaten over toasted bread or as is served with crusty bread on the side. I will use one large can of pumpkin to make: scones, muffins, bread pudding, rice pudding, waffles and pancakes out of it…freeze everything but rice pudding until needed. French toast can be made and frozen too, along with homemade biscuits with sausage patties in them and breakfast sandwich’s. Any leftover bread pieces can be made into breakfast casserole that can be cut into squares and frozen for breakfast or dinner later. I had one very large onion starting to go bad…cut off bad pieces and made some French Onion soup. Made me enough for three servings. Very filling with the roasted French bread pieces and small amount of Swiss cheese I had. Just some ideas on how to take things we consider throwing out and evolving them into something so different and tasty. Keep up the good work.
I still can't get over how inexpensive food is in your country! Today I bought fresh fruits & vegetables and one container of soy milk, 85.00 ! I wonder what my bill would be if I ate animal products. I don't think that I would make it. I really enjoy watching your food hauls but unfortunately I can't come anywhere near succeeding in keeping my food budget down. I am one elderly woman by the way. I'm actually a bit older than you Robin. Keep up the good work. I will still continue watching your content. Love from Canada.
@@justme-hx9ou Thank you so much for the suggestions. I will try Jessica Wonders. As for Groceryland I have never heard of this particular store. It must be local to Halifax. I live in Montreal Que. But thank you anyway.
I watch both of those channels Margaret. Adventures in Groceryland is the name of her channel, it’s not a store. She does some good shops. I am a sub of hers.
I went to Krogers this week a couple times and used my digital coupons.. I got a free pizza ( I don't eat pizza but gave it to a neighbor who does), free dozen eggs and a dozen on sale for $1.49 and a free container of ice cream. You inspired me to keep a closer look out on those deals, I have a $3 coupon to use at CVS after taking advantage of a online deal they had 75 or less picture printouts at 12 cents each off your phone or computer that is what prompted the $3 coupon, bought 2 cans of dog food for one of my senior dogs who refuses to eat anything else now and got a coupon for $1 off the purchase of 3 cans ( Krogers) which I will be using she only weighs 10 pounds so a 22 oz can will last her at least a week or more.. gotta stock up for the doggies too. They have the chicken leg quarters there 79 cents a pound for a 10 pound bag I bought 2 to Can up for my pantry, my other 4 dogs eat a little of this daily with their dry dog food. I don't really set a amount to spend but I am inspired to watch for deals to keep my grocery cost down so thank you for continuing to inspire all of us during these hard economic times. Buying the canned vegetables is a good base for making vegetable soup for sure. I would add some cans of meat to add as a protein but you could also use beans like kidney navy lentils for that protein. I need to start canning some hamburger meat for my emergency pantry stock up, you can use either beef, chicken or turkey ground meat for Canning. I do have a pressure canner and have been canning meat for several years. Anna In Ohio
HI Anna! You got some good deals. Way to go! I can meat as well. When my freezer gets full of meat bargains I rotate it into canning. I’ve canned sausage patties, ground beef, chicken legs, beef and pork. I also can beans, lentils and soups. I’m at the end of my canned beans so will do some more. Thanks for sharing with us. I appreciate ya!
Nice shopping. Do you have a trick to keep your potatoes from going bad before you finish them? I always buy only one or two because they always go bad. I think a whole bag is cheaper than buying one or two.
I was gifted a bottle of avocado oil, and didn't know what to d with it. Then I was gifted a turkey breast. I decided to make fried turkey tenders, and the recipe said to fry in avocado oil. Delicious
You always seem to have so much food left at the end of the month. Do you not eat it, eat twice a day, eat other foods or just don’t eat a lot. I’m asking because I guess I have a hard time controlling my food intake. I say good for you.
I eat twice a day. Being by myself I don’t go though food very quickly. I’m trying to get into the habit of cooking less. I feel like I eat too much sometimes lol.
The "Iowa Chop" is a large thick center cut with its name coined in 1976 by the Iowa Pork Producers Association due to the state producing more pork than any other in the nation. It’s over an inch thick and very tender. Delicious!
