Buy a Check Valve: www.wendellleewellservices.co...
I have a brief discussion about check valves: what they are, how they work, and why they MUST be installed on a well pump. Most small residential well pumps come with one installed already, but you don't want to rely on this as the only check valve. Also, do not use a SWING check valve on a well pump system either.

QUESTION…Will a bad check valve allow air into the system where the faucets are spurting lots of air ?

That's what I've never liked here , my house i havd now must have a check vale but I've always saw one before the tee and i dont have one there , just a little aggravated one's not there and I keep putting off adding one.

Can you use a check valve with a foot valve to help with a straw type shallow solar. Well pump to help keep prime?

Probably a dumb question, I want to install a well pump that’s frost free but I need full flow fittings like a cam lock. It’s a well I will fill tanks from. Can I remove the check valve in the pump and have it drain out after use? Frost free yard hydrants are not big enough.

Please make a video for repairing a hole in a leaking casing without pulling it out. We have a 20 years old waterwell it was not been used for about 12 years because of its big operational cost and then we decided to make it operational again and putting a much better pump. The water goes up well but the problem is it was taste salty. We suspect a leak in the casing. please help.

Great video .. just had whole new well troll pressure tank ..switch ..piping etc installed .. our installer said they don’t put check valve at pressure tank since there’s a check valve at the pump … and that putting two check valves in at pump and at pressure tank can mask a pump Problem ? Is this accurate info ? I take em at there word they are in the business and have been for some time in our area … I’m just confused cause some many forums and pressure tank installers insist a check valve should be at pressure tank and pump

So the check value should be on the inlet side of the brass tee?

We are just now thawing out from the great texas freeze. I turned the breaker back on to my well pump and water is coming out of the check valve when the pump is on, but not when it is off.... the tank is still building and holding pressure . What could cause this?

If the pressure tank is showing no pressure but there is still water but with really bad pressure would this be a check valve? Well in Nevada at about 375ft.

Is the check valve is installed on the outlet side or inlet side of the pump? A foot valve on a simple jet pump system would suffice as the check valve but if you have a pump system (say the water source is a cistern) then where would you put the check valve?
@BOHICA_
@BOHICA_ 3 года назад
I figured it out. It's on the input side of the pump.

just had a guy install a in well submersible pump and he couldnt get the check valve hooked up IDK why probably because he's incompetent or lazy. There's now only one on the far side where the water tank is. Is this an issue or will the check valve on the other end work?

Everytime my pumps turns off I get water hammer. I can here a 'thud' noise and see the pressure gauge on my pressure tank move around. From research I've done it seems the check valve on my pump is not closing properly and the reverse flow is causing it to slam shut. Any ideas?

Is that why I lose prime on my shallow well pump ? When I prime it it runs but I soon as I turn it off I can hear the water running down to the barrel and when I started there’s no water in the pump

From what I read a check valve can be installed on a shallow well jet pump but I had to installers try to sell me a new well and said check valves are not installed on shallow well jet pumps, is this correct?
@demenes1541
@demenes1541 2 года назад
That's 100% a lie you have to have a check valve on the end of a jet pump or you can't prime the line

Whats a good way to check to see if a check valve is bad without pulling the pump? Just bought a house and dont have the money to pay somebody to do it right now.
@WendellLeeWellServices
@WendellLeeWellServices 4 года назад
if the pressure wont hold when the pump is off. if the pressure starts falling as soon as the pump turns off, thats probably an indicator the check valve is bad and the water is running back in the well

@@WendellLeeWellServices Thank you for the video and the reply. Sorry for this long-winded response, but thank you if you can assist me and anyone else in a similar situation. Trying to diagnose if it's a faulty check valve at the submersible pump or crack in well pipe at pump or on the line coming into house without pulling pump since we're still in the negative temperatures here in interior Alaska and 100 miles from the nearest well drilling specialist. Cannot see if there's any water spots on ground outside from well casing to the house, since we're under several feet of snow and ice for a few more months (usually thaws in April/May, with water not fully soaking into ground/evaporating until June/July). I can visually see the water rushing back down the well pipe via the whole house water filter with clear canister installed just after the well pipe that leads into crawlspace from underground (pre-expansion tank). The canister will drain down to 25% water and fill up with air approximately 75%. This happens after the water pressure drops from 50 down to 30 psi when using water and the pressure switch kicks on at that time. Pressure tank is set at 28 psi. There's a second check valve right before the expansion tank/pressure switch, so harder to diagnose since the gauge doesn't lose pressure over time because that check valve prevents pressure drop and is working. After the pressure tank water is exhausted and pressure is down to 28 psi the faucets start sputtering with air and spurts of water, and then several seconds later the water will rush back into the filter canister from the well pipe along with a bunch of air bubbles. Once the water visually fills the filter canister again very rapidly, the water at faucets will continue sputtering before releasing brown sediment, and this takes approximately 20-30 seconds to clear up. Once the sputtering stops, a few more seconds pass before the sediment clears, and then the water is clear and the pressure tank starts building pressure again to 50 psi. This cycle repeats every time the pressure switch calls for water, and there has ALWAYS been water hammer once the pump cut off (the well pipe to crawl space will shake, and it has a foam "pool noodle" sleeve around it to deaden the noise). Been this way since we bought the home and didn't come up during inspection. Well and well pump installed 2019 when home built. Given the sediment that gets washed up every time, I was leaning towards a semi-educated guess/DIY diagnosis of a crack in the well pipe right above the pump, since that would create a water swirl that stirs up sediment that is getting sucked back into the pump and eventually the pump fills with enough water to overcome the air in the pipe and comes racing back up. After finding your video, now I'm wondering if it could be the check valve at the pump being bad. Again, sorry for the long drawn out reply/description. In your experience, has a bad check valve at the pump caused something similar? I.e. air in the well pipe, followed by sediment brown water before clearing again, only to repeat again, every time? Or do all signs point to a cracked pipe? Thanks again for reading. I know time is valuable.
