The Chevy engine is a transplant which is why an adapter plate is needed on the bellhousing. Looks like it might have been originally Ford power...223 cu in ? ...and the gauge cluster is an old Ford truck unit. Steering is accomplished by the articulated frame..ie hinged in the middle... and is controlled by the hydraulic cylinder on the lower right side.

Nice. The exhaust is to keep the Bigfoot away lol... All jokes aside that is a neat piece. There's several videos on the you tubes about small skidders. Some look very similar.

Might be erly franklin skider or old Franklin. But yea looks real home made its easy to get parts when it was built

Not homemade per say but has a few transplants. The actual skidder it's self is an old Franklin they were pretty common here in NY back in the 60s to the 80s most pulpwood guys had them. Usually by the 80s you'd find them with any engine that ran in them, I've had them with automatic and standard trans my last one had 2 4 spd standards in it. I'd actually like to get my hands on another one but over the years they've been scrapped during the scrap rushes we've had.

It might have wheel breaks like a tractor, you know how you'll have 2 break pedals for each drive tire. So you can break it on one side to steer it easier. Really might, has a steering wheel so it could've steered at one point lol. Might be why it's parked, it's steering went fuck lol

I'd love to have it. Some guys here in Maine used to make them. Also it steers in the middle. Articulated steering. Where is this?
