I had the option of a V3, but decided on the V3+ - thinking I was getting something more up to date. Subscription is £24.99 per year (compared to V3 and below who get the same thing (??) for £19.99 for life). From what I've heard here, it may be premature to buy the subscription. Thanks for a good overview of the app :)

Hi I missed to have been auto updated I used to use the manual switch heating on off option as I never know when I'm going to be in, I now can't switch my heating on at all, apart from being a bit cold I'm flipping annoyed at tado for changing the app without publishing guidance

So main question. I've managed to pick up both a V3 and V3+ starter kit. Is it better for me to setup the V3 unit, upgrade using the one time £19.99 offer then install the V3+ kit or is the hardware on both exactly the same?

V3+ Hardware is supposed to be better, but not sure if that is subscription based. Where as V3 is a one off upgrade cost. So I think it depends what products you talking about, might steer this decision.

Thanks i was curious when i got the alert to subscribe to the updated App but just dismissed it as i am trying to reduce rolling payments. I'm glad i did as i don't see that this is (currently at least) worth the upgrade, maybe closer now it a one off payment. The mould reduction bit right near the end looked interesting but fortunately it's not something our house suffers with. I'm going to give the + a miss for now.

Cheers for commenting Darren. Unfortunately since this video was done I have not seen much changes to the performance either :(

I've been a Tado customer for a while with a combination of thermostats and a smart thermostatic valve in each radiator. I also paid the one-off fee to get the app to ensure future proofing and support development. it works ok but nothing new and I would like the air comfort to be customised and able to automatically keep an area in the comfort (pleasant) zone. The humidity does impact the heat comfort hence 20 degrees @ 30% humidity is not the same as 20 degrees at 60%. humidity. however, I'm not sure how accurate is the humidity readings and the app does not allow you to offset it. Also, I'm hoping they will release an indoor air quality or alloy their app to get the reading from a third party device to get better measurements.

Yup, same position its good to support them. I just hope we get more customisation in the app and would be good to link in with other vendor support.

I have been watching the reviews on the App Store and there have been a few people saying it’s buggy (e.g. the geofencing) have you experienced any of this? I am a v2 customer and wondering about upgrading but struggling to decide. The reviews aren’t great but I believe a lot of that could be hard feelings due to the way the new app was pitched to existing customers initially.

I have seen no change in Geofencing operation since before the upgrade. I know some people had had issues with the v2 version also, but always been fine for me. Like I say I think you are buying into the future UI, nothing mega amazing yet, but £20 vs annual subscription I think its ok.

Spectrum Geeks agreed, I’m happy with a one off upgrade fee as opposed monthly subscription

Do you have any further thoughts on if the one off upgrade is worth the £20? Has anything new been added since you made the video?

Hi Gavin, sadly I have not noticed anything new. So I am glad its not a subscription thing like they originally planned, but also not sure its worth £20, unless of course you like the different look.

@@SpectrumGeeks Great thanks for your prompt reply, it is as expected so I'll stay with the original app until I'm given a good reason to upgrade.

Does anyone know how to use manual heating on and off on the new app please?
@SpectrumGeeks
@SpectrumGeeks 5 лет назад
Not 100% sure what you mean, but I assume you mean the manual control setting under settings. Then select the device and configure until next change, timer or until ended by user.

When you touch the temperature of a thermostat to manually set a temperature, are there still the options for „set this temperature until someone changes it“ and „set it until next automatic change“ like it was in the old app? In your video i dont see this options. I only see the bar to change the temp and after it i only see the timer. Am i missing something?
@SpectrumGeeks
@SpectrumGeeks 5 лет назад
Yup, all the backend settings are exactly the same. So can still configure with the options Until Automatic Change, Timer, Until Ended By User. I have mine set to timer of 1 hour, hence thats what you saw, but all still configurable in the device settings.

Spectrum Geeks Spectrum Geeks Thanks for your reply. So it is a little bit more circumstantial, isn‘t it? In the old app i was able to set this up when i touched the target temp of a room. Now i have to go to the settingsscreen to set the default for a room. If i had set this for my living room to „Timer“ and a next time i want to set it to until automatic change i would have to go to the settingsscreen again? Am i getting this right?
@SpectrumGeeks
@SpectrumGeeks 5 лет назад
Yes, it certainly seems that way. Seems you set a default "mode" and this is what you get when you tap for the associated device. I believe like before, each device can have a different default action, but its not adjustable outside of the settings section. I think I mentioned, in general I use my Amazon Echo for most things, so never personally messed with the changing of this option, just kinda saw it as a boost function.

Spectrum Geeks Thank you very much for your answer. Yes, in the old app you were able to change the settings everytime when you tapped the target temp. So for me this is a downgrade in the new app. Another thing i noticed, i think there is no indicator which shows the status of the heating anymore. In the old app on the screen of a room was a little indicator which showed if a radiator is heating or not. So with these downgrades in the new app i think i‘ll stay on the old app. Thank you for your help!

In the old app you have the three wiggly lines that indicated different levels of heat request (personally never understood the 3 levels, its either demanding heat or it isnt). In the new app that has gone, it just simply says heating in the bottom corner of each device that is calling for heat. So its still there.
