I have this exact model ($3200 in spring 2020) and it's amazing in every respect. Not only is the magnetic sound perfectly balanced (as you'd expect and can hear in the video), but the piezo sounds more aesthetical and pronounced than on any actual acoustic I ever tried. it does lack lows due to the smaller body, but nothing a little eq can't fix. the piezo/mag mixing options provide quite a palette. ergonomics addictive. great, great guitar.
The PRS HB II Singlecut Hollowbody ii is one of my favorite PRS guitars… probably the favorite for couch playing and gigging. Do you know why they don’t make them anymore?
Thank you for your time. I appreciate that you make vids like this. I may never buy a guitar. But if I do. It will have to be one that you have reviewed. You’re very honest and to the point. Thank you.
Can you say which has the smaller neck profile the McCarty 594 HB or the SE HB? I have the SE and wish the neck was just a slightest fraction smaller, otherwise love it.
ok, this is a really cool way to show some of your gear and oddities without having to do a full fledged video. who knows, you might do your entire collection eventually!
Really wanna know how you feel about the PRS special you bought.. I have the same version, before they did the updates, but I can’t get enough spank for positions 2&4 😤😩 Love the new segment by the way! 🤘🏻🔥😎
I have the SE, great guitar ! I like it better than Core PRS 594, Gibson LP Standard, pretty much everything that I have owned. Blend the Piezo & the bridge magnetic & it’s awesome. Light, great neck, stock tuners stays in tune. I don’t care where it was it was made, it’s awesome.
I'm looking for an electric with the piezo pickups. The Schecter C1EA looks awesome, but I decided to just pre-order the Dave Grohl Epiphone... plan is to get a piezo bridge installed on it.
Hi Phil. Does this fully hollow guitar squeal and feedback much? Is it mostly a home/studio or low-gain live kinda thing? Just kinda curious. I’ve always been a little Epi Casino curious. Lol.
Thank you, you’re the best. I guess I should just grab a Casino when there’s a cheap used one available and quit worrying about hypothetical feedback. 😂
I use it with high gain a lot - never squeals (pickups wax potted) but feeds back quite beautifully and in ways you still can control and play around with.
I’m not a huge PRS fan I find there stuff too dad rock but this one intrigues me. Sounds amazing too. Also if it’s as light as you say that’s awesome! My 355 is like 9 pounds with a strap.
I don’t know how anybody knows how a guitar sounds from a RU-vid video. The algorithm is highly compressed. Highs and low sounds are deleted. Phone, IPad or computer speakers are terrible. Yet, people can judge how the guitar actually sounds.
Lovely guitar! I wanted one so bad. Kept looking at them for years, but they were too rich for my blood. Then I got interested in Tele’s. Built myself a Thinline with a BGP roasted maple neck made to roughly PRS wide/fat specs, and put a Piezo bridge in it. It’s not as pretty as the PRS, but I like it so much that I sold my 2008 McCarty, and bought a cheap baritone Tele to be my #2. Now that I’m a Tele-only guy, My bank account is looking much better!
"Piezo" Wrong pronunciation, Phillip. It's Italian technology (eetaleean) and pronounced PEE-ETSO. Rolls better off the tongue when you make the Italian hand gesture.
