The rust pushes me away from every vehicle but the white Escape reminds me of an 02 Maxima I once bought for 2k. The trunk was all rusted out, frame rails were starting to go and the body looked exactly like this Escape near the wheel wells. Sold it for 500 (scrap) 6 months later.
Exactly! Once I see the rust I really get turned off about buying it, there always seems to be way more than what you can initially see, and fixing it the right way is a lot of work. Thats why it’s always good to get out here and check them out too, I’ve seen pictures that looked great just to find something with a rusted frame that you would of never been able to see from the pictures.
The 2.0 in the 01-04 Escapes are the same Zetec out of the Focus of the 00-04 body, so no wonder it's hit 330,000 miles. The 05-08 Escape's had the 2.3 liter in them. The 09-12 Escape's had the 2.5 liter. I'd pass on the white Escape, due to the rust, even though not terrible. Too bad that Forester had a hole in the block, it was actually clean.
Made me happy to see this comment! Please correct me if I’m wrong but Did they offer the black and silver top zetecs in the escape like they did the focus? Yeah when it comes to rust I tend to stay far away, usually more than you can see and a lot of work to fix the right way. I thought the same about the Subaru, really seemed like someone took good care of that one just to have the engine grenade. Good candidate for an engine swap though.
