My first author bio took several iterations and I changed it slightly for each of my five books. I will definitely use these 5 steps on my next non-fiction book. Thank you for sharing.
Being able to put myself into the shoes of my intended audience and potential buyer is a great way to suss out the kind of information that will be most effective. I can see that the author bio is also an important sales tool. Not just to sell the content of book, but also the author and his/her business. Thank you for bringing that focus front and center❤

Love this! I’ve wondered what to put in my bio a lot, especially with not having published a book before. Articles and blogs-got you covered there! But I’ve felt a book bio was something different. I have a whole Google Document dedicated to playing around with bios. 😂

I seem to recall being inspired by some of my favorite author bios when I wrote mine. I'm happy to see that the elements they included that I liked enough to include in mine are recommended by you, Julie. There doesn't seem to be a standard, per se, but there definitely are expected elements. BTW: Minnesotans are sometimes mistaken for Canadians despite not saying "pro-gress" or calling a winter hat a "tuque." Hockey and curling lovers will out, I guess.

On amazon you have 3 possibilities for an author bio 1 on your amazon author website 2 on the back flap of your paperback / hardcover (NOT kindle has no backflap) 3 in the book description. How might they differ?
OOOHHH I kind of touched on this but this is a great subject for a deeper video thank you! Short answer - online focus on keywords. On the back of the book, have concise copy that strictly focuses on selling to the ideal reader.
