Thanks, Jeff. Awesome band. Diana is such a charming singer that people sometimes forget she has some serious piano chops. (I love that little quote she did from "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town".)

I was turned on to Diana Krall by a coworker at Lake Taylor Hospital, Norfolk Virginia ..... back in the mid 1990s .... loved the jazz feel to the combo who display phenomenal musicianship all - they nail this Berlin tune with touches galore. GBjj

I thought I might catch you expecting something else, perhaps, a smooth, slow ballad, But this was the group really swinging. Your reactions are priceless. My note to you about a surprise, was for the Drew Martin drum solo near the end. Beautiful. The only other drummer who could do brushes and make it musical as Drew did was Joe Morello. I find it necessary to keep my eyes on Diana Krall because her facial expressions add so much to the experience. I generally listen to her every day. It is always a bright spot!

Diana Krall is a classically trained pianist, and it really shows! I believe it’s early unusual for a classically trained musician to be able to play jazz because of the improvisation!

Jeff, Diana plays and sings beautifully, and she writes, too. If she can weld, she's gotta be the perfect woman! Check out her vocal work on Dave Grusin's Two For the Road album, Dave's homage to Henry Mancini. Her vocals on Dreamsville and the too rarely performed Soldier in the Rain will blow you away!

You have excellent taste, Jeff! L&F has been my favorite band since 2017, but I 'found' DK over 30 years ago. I'd pay money just to sit and look at her, or just to hear her piano playing, or to listen to her sing. Add that to Clayton, Hamilton, and Wilson.....all geniuses. Great observation about Jeff Hamilton. Many jazz drummers maintain the backbeats on the hi-hats while soloing. Jeff is one of the greats.

We just cannot go wrong with her. Her performance is very consistent, and there are always fantastic band around. It is still worth it to go to her concerts, she is still good. What surprises me, that how few people knows she exists despite she might be the best female jazz musician of all times. I have a few even less known, but fantastic female singers for you: Karen Souza ( worth checking older (8-10 years back) recordings as she had much better band back then ) Laura Fingy ( and Tooth Thielmans ) - Girl talk ( or anything else from that album Thielmans was featured at the entire album - if i remember correctly,) 2016 "Triste" ALBA ARMENGOU SANT ANDREU JAZZ BAND
