No Copyright Infringment Intended all rights to CNN. CNN following Maddie Gardner and her team Cheer Extreme Senior Elite as the prepare for the 2011 World Championships.
maddie is/was literally one of the best flyers in cheee history. her stunt really changed all star cheer, no other team has ever done it. maddie was very poised and technical when it came to flying. same with Gabie dinsbeer, Amber craft, Erica, Cea has breeder some amazing athletes. I don't understand why they get bashed
they get bashed because many of the coaches and athletes have done trashy things and the overall way the gym is run is pretty shitty. I give props to senior elite for the ball up 360 for its time. the stunt now has been done by level 4 teams and honestly it wouldn't score well for a level 5 team lol
+Kirsten E Maddie has never been trashy. Maddie is graduating near or at the top of her J-School class at UNC and is getting job offers for June in broadcast. She never participated in social media while cheering all star, and has done everything the correct way. She represented Chasse at their request and has now finished that commitment. Look for her TV career to begin somewhere in NC, SC or Ga. There are trashy people in all organizations and careers. She is not one of them. She appreciates all the kind words from her fans and to all of you that gave her so much grief, yeah, you made her stronger. The producer of this piece told us that she originally was going to tell the story ofAll Star using 2 teams going to worlds but it was too much with so many athletes and their point of views in 12 minutes. So she chose Maddie to tell the world about All Star by having her represent the athlete's pov. So even here, all the criticism of it being about her is off base. It was always about telling the viewer about All Star through the eyes of one cheerleader. She had NO input or influence on how this was put together and edited. All CNN, and an effective literary and journalistic technique. Best wishes to you all.
I almost cried when her stunt didn't work out, but I was so happy that she got right back up, she is such a strong person, such a great role model to thousands of girls. I love her so much.
When Maddie compared her injury to a football player playing in the super bowl my first thought was, no, he probably wouldn't play with that injury only a cheerleader would do that! Loved it! Great coverage on a misunderstood sport, yes, A SPORT!
i love how when maddie fell, she PUSHED to get back up in time for the rest of the stunt. THAT'S what makes her the best. the fact that even though her stunt fell, she fought to get it back up. go maddie
Bases definitely don't get enough recognition. Absolutely no recognition for the people who got her up into those stunts. What a shame. It's always "Maddie's stunt". It's about teamwork, not one person.
They fell. You have to hit at worlds to win unless the rest of your division has bad mistakes typically. Also, they won worlds the next year that worked out fine!
Whatever you think of Maddie, you can't deny that at 11:04 that was a remarkable save (by everyone in the stunt group). No flapping about, just throwing her right back into the stunt, with a smile from Maddie to boot!
I can't help but tear up at this video! I've been in that situation and it's the absolute worst feeling in the world! No one who isn't an all-star cheerleader just can't comprehend how heartbreaking that moment when your stunt falling costs your team the gold is!
Wow maddie you beautiful and so talented. You also seem so nice. I loved this video. Great to see a cheer team on CNN of all place. You should be proud that you're a amazing cheerleader and more amazing POINT flyer. You're ball up 360 tic toc is amazing and you make it look so easy.
this girl is what you call a true role model she is amazing i could never even dream of doing cheer and keep my grades up all these girls are amazing!!! XD!!
this is amazing!!! but i think they should have done more interviews with other team members.....but over all it was great and i enjoyed watching it! good luck sr.elite!:)
and even though the segment was just about maddie.. I wish they would have interviewed her bases and asked them what it was like. That would have been great !
If you look closely at the stunt when she does the tick tock up from the ball up her leg goes is on a slight diagonal so I think that's why the bases struggled to keep it up but she is still an amazing person :) I mean it just goes to show that this year they didn't have the ball up and got world champs :) love senior elite :)
i understand they're upset because they know they can do better, and not doing the best you know you can is always horribly frustrating. but 3rd place at WORLDS is nothing at all to be disappointed! that's an amazing feat! love these ladies
@dcmscheer12 I think all-star is more competitive based on the fact that most HS teams not everyone has the same skill level, you can walk on with a tuck, and also in competition you aren't allowed to do doubles in tumbling, and the stunting difficulty isn't up their
Can we just all focus on how she got back up after that fall?! Like how is that possible?! She basically floated back up. I think it was a beautiful save and it's amazing to see how badly she wants the gold when she gets back up.
Quit comparing dance to cheerleading. I do allstar cheerleading AND I'm principle dancer with a dance company. Both are hard in their own ways. While I can say that cheer is more athletic while dance is more artistic (with some athletic ability too), both are challenging and hard work to excel.
yeah if you watch the day 2 video for 2009 worlds you will see she fell in the first stunt i think. she was in the center towards the right in the stunts.
@Amber1025Nicole i agree with you but i don't think you should say they're "ungreateful" Cheerleading is about being your best and getting to the top. theres nothing wrong with trying harder and trying to be the best. cheer would be so boring if no one cared what place they got. maybe im wrong but its just my oppion
im on a high school team and we do competitions also.. its not just all-star. and we're not just like preps and extensions. give some slack to the high school teams!!
Back when they still didn't win gold there rivals are WCSS but now its F5 because F5 and them are like the bet now for wining gold because they have sick routines and very insane difficulty. World Cup is now getting sloppy but still WCSS is one of my favorite teams but CEA SE is still my no. 1
I think for all of the cheerleaders/cheer parents/coaches out there who watched this and are now critcizing this piece should be ashamed. When a very prominent news channel is doing a piece on this SPORT then why are we aruging over how much they focused on Maddie? They are trying to show the average viewer who knows nothing about cheerleading, only the negative stereotypes, that we do work hard and do deserve respect. They only had 15 minutes to inform people about what we do and it works...
I dont see whats so bad about 3rd at Worlds? I was shocked I even made it too worlds let alone the finals.. I just hope they understand that they are amazing and some of the most talented athletes in the world.
@AlexDisaster17 From what Erica said on Twitter when they were supposed to do it and Maddie was going to do something different and harder. But when she got injured they decided not to do the new changes. I do hope to see them do it next season though.
@Letissiaskatetapes24 the cut off age for senior is 18 as of August 31. If an athlete turns 18 on september 1st and on she is still eligible to compete as a senior. Maddie turns 19 in July of 2012 so she would not be able to compete on a senior team next year. Once you graduate high school you can still compete on a senior team as a 'super senior' like Kimsley did. Kimsleys birthday is in October (according to facebook) so she must have been a super senior twice.
