I'm a flyer and everybody thinks that I was picked as the flyer because I'm not strong. I actually am one of the strongest on my team, and I was picked as the flyer because I was flexible, lightweight, and small and short.

I am really tiny and short compared to them so that's why coach put me as flyer to and she said she wanted me to be seen bc we had another girl and on tryouts for school one I do both she named me peanut and another girl from last year was peanut and now she hates me coach is like well now she is peanut get over it. BUT YEAH I am stronger than most my teammates that's why the are alternates!!

I think a stereotype that needs to be changed is that “cheerleading not a sport” Like honestly SOME cheerleader can be dumb and SOME cheerleaders can be mean, but no matter what cheerleading will always be a sport

It’s more of a fine art, it’s beautifully hard. (I was in competitive elite cheer for many years) not easy, but not the hardest thing out there.

Bacon Bandito it’s not based on opinion. The judges base it off of technique, and how well you prefomed( like facials). Or if you fall or mess up they take points off. Judges who do things only on bias get fired immediately

Another cheer stereotype that i face all the time: Expectations: all cheerleaders are female Reality: in 1920 cheer squads were heavily male dominated until 1940 PS In 2014 my squad used to only have female members but now it has male members in 2015 back when I was 11 years old I strictly prohibited boys from joining my squad until i watched the music video called "Chewing Gum" by the K Pop boy band NCT

I am a gymnast and a cheerleader and these are too true 😥 People always think I'm this blonde bratty cheerleader, I'm really nice and smart, I think. Ive gotten all A's since elementary and I have been on the honor roll each year and i am in 6th grade. The kind of sport you play doesn't determine the player.

Bacon Bandito I saw you replying to another comment saying that cheer isn’t a sport, and that you were a male so you couldn’t do cheer. Lemme just make some things clear. 1) here’s the definition of a sport (I looked it up) “an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.” Like what part of that isn’t cheer?! 2) many males have done cheer. All my coaches are male... and no, they aren’t gay... because you probably believe that stereotype. 3) I hope someday somebody tells you that your sport isn’t real... while you have a concussion, broken leg, etc. and your forced to keep smiling. Like honestly just because you wanna be “cool” by believing everybody that cheer isn’t a sport, you shouldn’t be mean to these girls and boys who do cheer.

Cheering is back in the routines if Cheerleading is made an Olympic sport to stop it being so similar to Acrobatic Gymnastics / Sports Acrobatics as both involve stunts, tossses, tumbling and dance. Both are choreographed to music and can get deductions if not synchronised with team mates. Acrobatic Gymnastics is the much older of the two and in Acro they do 3 routines Balance (stunts), Dynamic (tosses) and Combined (mixture of both Balance and Dynamic.

The thing is with cheerleaders, especially highschool cheer, is that you have to keep at least a 3.0 or higher GPA to stay on the team
