Problem with part of the Portuguese: the C with the cedilla (the hook at the bottom) is pronounced "s" so it would be a soft C before whichever vowel it would have been hard. Also, if a nasal consonant (M or N) follows a vowel and either ends the word or is followed by a consonant, the vowel is nasal. The same is true if a vowel has a tilde (that "snake") on top: "Sim," "homens," "tão," "mãe" (the diphthong is pronounced like you'd say the "I" in "wine," but you barely pronounce the N), "aviões" (like "coins," but again, barely pronounce the "n"), and "maçã." However, if the M or N in a word is between two vowels, the vowel before it ends one syllable, and the M or N starts the next one and therefore does *not* nasalize the vowel before: "problema."
