Some players reported that the boss behaviour has changed after recent patch. I have tested another fight with him just now with the latest patch. His still do everything follow the script like in this video except the time I put him in corner with Plantain Fan. He seems has a new move which he will jump away from the dead corner after I gave him some big bangs. I am not sure just coincidence or the developer has added this. But I still manage to kill him by follow this method. The key strategy is to have enough mana for cloud step. Drink from guord after cloud step to boost the damage before charge attack him. The impact of him breaking free from the corner is just you deal less damage to him as he is no longer affected by gore eyed Daoist spirit. If you experience him break away after plantain fan due to patch. You may consider change your spirit to civet sergent to compensate the lost of damage. Just stay calm, take medicines, don't miss your charge attack, make use of cloud steps and use transformation. He is always yours 😀😀
He does break out of the lock and will immediately start using either cloud step or immobilize to mitigate the clones. What I changed to your strategy that I felt still allowed me to deal massive damage during that sequence was equipping the Auspicious Lantern curio. It moderately increases attack while in cloud step, which in combination with breath of fire, while in proximity to the Gore Daoist, hits like a truck if you take a sip from the gourd before going for a full charged attack. Overall, your set up still works, it's just a little less consistent.
Yo this is crazy I'm still stuck on phase two can't get him the corner and I use my spells but how can I get my clones to do a smash with the staff they won't do it what sequence do I have to input to make them do the smash?????
The Azure Dust transformation works for me every time. It helps me regenerate my health and it takes down some his life when you use the jump attack on him. The Azure Dust will charge up when the Great Sage hits him, which he is going to do. The Sure Dust helped me with Erlang because he talks to him instead if hitting him. Lol. Giving me the perfect opportunity to trip away his shield completely. Make sure to upgrade the attack, night decay and health of the Azure Dust.
At level 96, guess with some more mind cores and few more sparks can attempt this with bigger damage bonus. Second phase can still be done, but I wanted it more like a cheese as this as I had with yaksha king.
This looks like a vey good cheese. I won the hard way and it took a long time. Using the tornado item was key, as it interrupts him making it easy to hit 2 or 3 full light attack combos.
Even then you still needed good RNG to beat him.. This fucker will pull out insane combos out of his ass. There is one specific combo where he delays his final hit and I can never seem to dodge it. It's like it tracks you but the frames are so small to dodge that final blow. That and his bullshit grab attacks that you can see coming because he hides behind after images which explode if your mid combo yourself... FUCK this guy is annoying lol.
The only RNG is the critical strike chance. The developer does not program enough randomness in the boss attacks. They always start with same attack at the start of each phase and then react to what you do next. You felt the RNG is because you attack the boss with different move set each time. If you fight the same boss long enough you will be able to make it a scripted fight by using the same attack and anticipate the same response from the boss 😄
He is the most difficult boss in the souls like genre because he is a slippery dude with lot of HP. Just follow my guide, all the boss in this game operate follow a script. I can beat him easily even I don't know how to dodge most of his attack, because I always know what he is going to do next 😄
Yep I feel u. 52 attempts.. he sucks. He hits me in cloudstep still.. and does everything u don’t want him to.. especially on a good run. He’s awful. It feels coded to do exactly bullshit just so annoying. But I’m level 88 but think I’ve done most bosses and areas. No easy way to level up without boring play.
Wow he just standing waiting for you, not for me I'm like if I can get chance to recover after his fancy combos. If I'm not moving more then 15 second he is charging even if i'm far away from him. 😢
There are many boss in this game like to standing there watching you, he is one of them. Try keep distance will reset his aggressiveness, you will have breathing room to use medicine to heal. Don't drink gourd until you are far away, else he will steal it from you 😁
Sometimes happen, just reload again he will do pillar stance. Or you can just fight him normally at the same corner till he use the red charge attack, you dodge and use plantain fan. I did that before, but less optimum as I took some damage dodging him.
Good luck on NG+ cycles, this certainly doesn't work. Hardly does anything that's if you hit him. I'm on NG+3 the first stage is hard enough let alone phase 2 prepare yourselves people..
Try life saving strand with azure dome. Guanyin’s willow leaf, life preservation orb. After you have used azure dome once, take a remigration pill before you use azure dome again. This may extend your life longer after you have used azure dome the second time. I beat him with this trick to extend life 4 revives. 😂
NG3 was quite easy to be honest as your character greatly imposes his power on him. However, am stuck at this boss on NG4 whereby, all your maxed out attributes, armour, weapons ALL become totally irrelevant as the boss becomes literally bulletproof and your hits so laughable. This boss needs a big nurf because it ruined all the joy I had playing this great game.
I think in future they will add more RNG to boss attack. Currently all boss fight follow a script, you will be able to defeat all of them by stay one step ahead after read their entire script 🤣
I don't make guide for NG+, I assume players in NG+ know all the move sets of the boss as they have already defeated them. They won't need any guide. NG+ is easier than base game as you have better gear which some of them can one shoot bosses with right setup. So you don't need to refer to this method.
I'm on NG+4, this strand doesn't work as it barely puts a dent on his health pool. Life saving strand is what I use to make this fight possible and fair. I resurrected twice (RNG).
