In this episode of Chef's Night Out, we get to follow around Daniel Meteo Peters-one of the four owners of Berlin restaurant Zum Mond-on his culinary tour of the city.
Zum Mond specializes in seasonal dishes using ingredients sourced from nearby rural regions, so we witness a fresh shipment of the house specialty: meat from a recent hunt, delivered straight from the deep woods of Mecklenburg. In the kitchen, the chefs prepare an array of hearty German food, including a specially marinated haunch of venison with a jellied lentil and herb stew; goat cheese au gratin with an almond crust and caramelized apples picked from local manor grounds; and a locally caught pike-perch filet with wine-infused "sauerkraut."
Keeping with the theme of traditional food, Daniel visits Austria, an old, well-established Austrian restaurant in Berlin. Daniel and his friends from the record label Monkeytown treat themselves to hearty cheese spätzle (a type of German pasta), pancake soup, and arguably the best Viennese schnitzel in the city. Then it's off to the Italian restaurant Hartweizen, named after the special pasta made from durum wheat imported from Puglia. After more feasting, it's time to relax with a cool beer at local pub and brewery Bierkombinat. Finally, Daniel leads the group back to Zum Mond to prepare his special MUNCHIES meal, "Dead Grandma," an undeniably German concoction of black pudding, crunchy potatoes, and caramelized apple slices.

ooh shit it's Apperat! Kreig und Frieden (Music For Theatre) is such a beautiful album and I love the work he's doing in Moderat. I had no idea he was in the food world as well, that's straight as fuck.

I KNEW I’d seen these two before! That overbite and lisp is unmistakable. They were in Resident Advisor’s ‘Real Scenes: Berlin’ episode.

I have to be honest, I love the Chef's Night Out on Munchies. I think this was a refreshing episode that didn't show, New York, Toronto or what have you with all there world renowned chefs, dishes and cocktails. This gives you a really good glimpse of how good German cuisine is made and what some typical restaurants are like in Berlin. I do love Bronson and Huang though!!

In contrast to the level of entertainment of other episodes you're perfectly right. But may be it's not just about showing people being great entertainers, but about the concept they are proposing. These guys here are follownig a regional approach regarding the procurement of ingredients, which is kinda sustainable and thus paying adequate deuce to the Zeitgeist. A different perspective. Less loud and shiny, but smart and on point. From a European perspective these guys are just relaxed and nice people. Regular mates. Understament instead of self-promotion. The idols you propose are awesome entertainers, tho..a path the guys subject to this video didn't choose for they obviously are just entrepeneurs with a good idea, not media people staging a particular image of personality for the purpose of marketing their carreers. Don't evaluate ideas based on if you like people or not, that's boring in the means of conceptual variety - a thing other people watching this show are interested in, besides being simply entertained by people fulfilling MTV-criteria [no offense for I truly appreciate the guys you mentioned].

Pretty cool to see a food scene starting to develop in Germany. I've lived here for 3 out of the last 5 years and honestly they're slowly starting to get it. Okay, so the decor in some places doesn't quite hit the mark, and Germans in general are fairly cautious about what they eat so you won't really find quite the adventurous creations readily available in New York or London, but I think in another five or so years you could see this trend reaching some of the more provincial parts of Germany too!

Pretty sure get rich ideas are just from 5th Element...cigayrettes (Chris Tuckers character and Gary Oldman get together), internet for old people - cue scene where Bruce Willis' mom calls in the movie. Half- cigarettes...Bruce Willis smoking a filter with the tip of tobacco. end case last one he wouldn't say but i'm sure it could involve blue tentacle haired ppl and beautiful humans (looking hard at George Lucas and Luc Besson)

Vice, why not visit the Pacific Northwest? It seems to me that the PNW is the last place that it considered when shooting these episodes. Is the PNW boring? To snoby? Over-hyped? If not San Franciso or Seattle, what about Oakland, Berkeley or Oregon. Im sure there have got to be some hidden gems out this way.

CHEFS NIGHT OUT is a very boring series - Just restaurateurs promoting each other's eatery. Then, we see the chefs and friends overstuff themselves with many rounds of food. Then, got too drunk. This concept does not work.
