Can I have Dr. Goldhammer give me a pep talk every morning? Seriously! I love his unapologetic attitude towards the choices we make about what we put into our bodies. I feel I should not only ask myself daily WWJD but also WWGD?
Hard to believe he's 60! His health promoting diet and healthy outlook, doing what he loves and playing basketball against his lifelong friend...that will keep you young! Thank you!
In case anyone is curious, shirataki noodles are made from konjac root. Some brands add tofu, but the bulk is still konjac, and the kind without tofu are usually available alongside the ones with tofu. It is a processed food, made from ground dried konjac and a food grade calcium salt known as pickling lime. Konjac is considered to be a good prebiotic food in spite of being ground into powder, because it is very high in resistant starch. I'm only sharing for informational purposes, not suggesting that people eat them.
The challenge is not so much the wrong friends, actually, my friends support me even though they do not follow a plant-based diet. However, it's hard with family members who "mean well" and "know better". Thank you once more for the great information. Loved how Dr Goldhamer explained 'a survivor' - I feel so much better knowing that my body absorbs the food properly... yeyyy :-) Love his no-nonsense approach. Thank you both!
I love the story about his son Gar getting kicked out of school for telling the kid the truth about his sandwich .🥪. I got into “ trouble” too when my daughter was young. 😁
Great interview, again. I never get tired of here this information dn I always get a new pearl of wisdom from each one. Thanks for making this happen Chef AJ!
This is the best interview with Dr. Goldhammer, ever! Thank you, Chef AJ for making this information available. I've listened to this interview multiple times. He's "spot-on" with his responses with issues I've struggled.
Doug must be one hell of a basketball player. I must say, I'm probably second or third string as he says, but over time, I keep getting better and better. I wish I could say I was there, as in AJ for an example, but I keep learning and adapting. For instance, I'm finding I'm eating much more vegetables for breakfast instead of my beloved oatmeal. That I like. Continued thanks to AJ for all she does.
Wonderful, my father fasted with Goldhammer 25 years ago it was fantastic. But one thing we really want to emphasize that it’s not being brought up and all these videos. Will power has nothing to do with it after fasting and connecting to your true source of taste. When you enjoy immensely the fruits and the vegetables and all the food you eat all the other stuff is disgusting what used to be attractive is actually disgusting at that point so there’s no effort to be made I think we should really emphasize that the effort of trying to eat healthy and clean completely drops and it’s amazing. It’s like you’re Letting go of the lesser and gaining so much more.
The only thing I can say is keep cooking and being creative in the kitchen, find good recipes folks and it will be easier. :-) My husband is supportive too.
Would be nice if Dr Lisle would use a headset like Goldhamers headset and mike when doing podcasts and youtube. The sound is so much better here with Goldhamer. Just a kind suggestion. Im a big fan of Lisle, Goldhammer and AJ. Thank you.
just tell your partner you want them to increase their life insurance so you can have a better life with your second husband if they don't get on plan xD
Love this and love you, Chef AJ! Thanks for this powerful, informative, encouraging interview with Dr Goldhamer. It might be just me, but when I'm listening intently to Dr G's comments and yours -- hanging on every word -- the comments from viewers that flash on the screen with profile pictures distract me and I miss part of the message Dr G and you are delivering. It's cool looking but it takes my focus off the main message and I have to rewind every time. Just my opinion, thanks for listening. All the best to you!
This information will help a lot more people we need to emphasize that it’s not a struggle after the initial stage it’s an automatic wonderful feeling. The reason why most people are scared of the jump is because they think they have to be on a diet or some kind of struggle on their life but that is not the case.
Please make it possible to undestand in other language...like Dr. Greger. I have hear from you in Germany in another YT Video and she have say, that you are very long vegan, but you have a long time not lost weight. After you eat only in the morning eat vegetable, since you lost weight!! Because I 3 years plantbased low fat wholefood like Dr. Greger I do not lost weight. That was my last change to loose weight. I am in the wheelchair and have problems to make sports, because trouble with my shoulders. My blood values are perfect like a jung girl, only my bloodpresure can be better and I do not lost weight...I sm so frustrated:-(:-(
Every time Dr. Alan Goldhamer says "salad"... I'm thinking literally raw lettuce and no dressing. Is that what he means? Does he use dressing and if so what type?
I didn't either. It honestly took about a year for my taste buds to adapt. I crave vegetables now, but you have to understand that we train our brains and taste buds, through years of repetition, to crave certain foods. Although I will never crave broccoli like I crave pizza, (broccoli cannot compete with the high caloric content of processed foods like pizza) but with time, I believe everyone can train themselves to like fruits and veggies.
maybe he really needs a health scare to motivate him....honestly my cardiac ct angiogram showed a blockage and that scared me straight to the vegies..... mind you...my hubby who basically ended up with the same health scare still took months longer to stop complaining about our food....slowly over time its got better and better ...its been 22 months now one thing i can tell you is that if he is still sporadically eating fats..oils....or rich non plant foods like ice creams or meats..etc it will be harder for him to adjust my 16 yr old went plant based with us but on the odd occasion hes gone away for week or 2 with mates and indulged in these foods to a greater or lesser extent, we invariably notice he whinges more about how tasteless our meals are etc.....its been hard at times with my husband and child but basically weve all stuck in there
esther, to a certain extent you can sneak them in via blending veggies into stews , soups and sauces. A great way to thicken them too. But to get the full benefit from them he has to make an effort to try. Mire than one time. And experiment with sorts and seasoning. And during transition I would keep the salt.
i think he was referring to what some patients say when they first taste the food under duress at Truenorth....for example. he often talks of an obese belligerent truck driver who turned up there under an employer arrangement....thats how he referred to the food 20 days later..after doing the fast. he apparently said something like they mustve got themsemves a new chef bc this food 20 days later was definitely different food than the disgusting swill he was introduced to 20 days earlier
