Thanks chef for this amazing recipe. I put all masala including onion tomato and whole spice in the boiling water and mashed them all in end. Just put the tadka with oil in the end. Simple fast and easy.
I was waiting to see more recipes from you. It seems you are posting new videos now. Your methods of explanation and cooking are interesting. I hope you will post more vegetarian recipes....... Your Dal makhani video was the best.
hi friends was watching this chef cook his dals i think I am pretty close to his cooking. my daughter's Aussie friends live my dals but hey i have to go slow o the chilli
Hi Atul, what is the reason for adding the spice paste (tarka?) at the end, instead of at the same time as the beans, tomato and onions in the pressure cooker?
In Pressure cooker, onion beans and tomatoes are getting boiled/pressure cooked. In pan, the spices are getting fried in oil/ghee/butter. So, the flavour will enhance on frying. In typical Indian household, even onions are slow fried in pan (in oil) and then tomato paste is added along with spices.
There are no fized rules around it. Some people, me, mom and even some acclaimed chefs in India fry the spices first and then add rajma and cook. I prefer it as it tends to be faster.
mouthwatering! It speaks a lot about the content when we put up with less than stellar video techniques. Please share recipe for homemade garam masala with us. Complete list of ingredients for each recipe posted would be nice too.
I stumbled across this after perusing various dhal videos and thought I'd give it a go and it is absolutely delicious. Whether it's down to the addition of the amchoor powder, the kidney beans, the pulverised onion and tomato, I don't know, but with the addition of the raw onion, I've just enjoyed THE best curry I've ever made. Restaurant quality food any day of the week. This will be added to my list from now on. Thank you chef for sharing this (though you did credit your wife with the recipe at the start).

A bit too heavy with the spices dear chef-I think you might have lost your focus. This is more like tomato and onion and garlic curry with a bit of rajma thrown in!
