I work at a company that in 2 years grew very rapidly. 2 years later we are still working hard on implementing DevOps in the old projects. Compared to new projects that implement DevOps deployment is such a drag on the old projects, especially when errors occure on customer installations. In some of these old projects it's simply not even feasible to even implement DevOps. Soooo... listen to this guy! You willl hear about "scaling", "devops", and at the time other unfamiliar buzzwords during school. Try to practice devops consistently, and spend time playing with these tools asap. No fancy algorithms or math skills will save your sorry ass in the real world :) @edureka, good presentation.

Great overview and comparison. I'd just offer one correction in that Saltstack can push, pull or run masterless. We generally push but Consul and Consul-Template running on the minions regularly initiates pulls on-demand. Cheers

Thanks a lot for publishing this overview. Although very interesting I do miss some information so hope you can elaborate on: Scalability: what if servers need to be deployed in datacenters across the world. Are there any differences between the tools? Is there a central master pushing packages to decentral servers? Management: Within this presentation the main focus is on the programming language. What about versioning of code, creating independent modules etc? TIA!!
+Jorrit van Surksum, thanks for checking out our tutorial! Here's the clarification as requested: The tools remains the same. You can use the same tool to deploy the applications to the servers all over the world. The versioning of the tools also plays a very important role in the organization : We have many version control tools in the market, Some of them are: 1. GIT 2.SVN 3.PERFORCE 4.mercurial 5.CVSHope this helps. Cheers!

Informative video thanks. I feel I should point out that the answer given to the question as to "why do all masters have to run on Linux/UNIX" is.... highly subjective, and should probably qualified. A more usable explanation is that a) they were developed there first, and this is because the model for basic server-client interaction is minimal (SSH to a shell, run commands - in Windows, the base model would at least need a custom agent for even the first designs, increasing the cost of development), b) the presence of package management accessible programmatically, coupled with the prevalence of UNIX-style servers on the web, drove that target first, further compounded with the remote-connectivity ease and c) (probably because) it's cheaper to deploy large clusters of Unix machines, and so more pressing to automate that which spreads faster. My 2c :-)

Hey Jatin, thanks for checking out our tutorial. Expertise in one is enough, however some companies use more than one Configuration Management tools. So it totally depends on the company's environment. Hope this helps. Cheers!
Hey Monalisa, thanks for checking out our tutorial! In "Pull" deployment model, the individual servers contact a master server, download their configuration and software, and configure themselves. In a "Push" model, a master server pushes the configuration and software to the individual servers and runs commands remotely. While neither technique is right or wrong, they both have some specific advantages and disadvantages that you should understand when making a decision. Hope this helps. Cheers!
PULL for a very simple reason when you use PUSH method, let's say you have A master server which can connect to 10 clients, when master A is compromised it can compromise the 10 clients and you will have very minimal time, on a PULL method, you will only have to stop one box from spreading the compromise.
The content was good. Only thing was the sound quality. It would be nice to improve a bit on the sound quality, if not, doesn't make much difference. thanks! :)

[11:18] If I understand correctly, the shell script example using passwords is meant to show an obsolete approach as most have gone to using SSH certificates. Right?
Hey Wilson, thanks for checking out our tutorial! Yes, you are right. If you want to setup the password-less ssh, you can refer to the below given link for setting up a password-less sssh between two machines: www.edureka.co/blog/setting-up-a-multi-node-cluster-in-hadoop-2.X. Hope this helps. Cheers!
+Othman Muqtaar, thanks for checking out our tutorial! Going with chef is the better way as you are using ruby in your organization. Ansible uses yaml format of writing the scripts which is difficult to learn. Hope this helps. Cheers!

Hi Ranganath, it requires the following to be installed: rsync cron MySQL or a MySQL-compatible database needs to be installed if you'd like to enable MySQL database backups. It's also assumed you have a server running somewhere that can accept backup data via Rsync, and on this backup server, you need to install rsync, and configure accounts with SSH authentication that allows this role to deliver backups to a specific directory via SSH.
Hey Sherif, thanks for checking out our tutorial! There is no limitation for managing the nodes, We can have as many nodes as possible with only one master node. Hope this helps. Cheers!
Scalability is not same for all 4, puppet + chef are less scalable than salt, ansible salt is most scalable by far, ansible is scalable by SSH thread limitation, puppet needs adidtional worker masters to crunch over 700 nodes
+perfecto25, thanks for checking out our tutorial and for sharing your thoughts. We're glad you liked it. Do subscribe to our channel to stay posted on upcoming tutorials. Cheers!
Hey Sunil, thanks for checking out our tutorial! There are two types of software available in the market - one is open source and another is enterprise version. Open source is free of cost and we can get that application without any cost. There is no support for opensource software where as enterprise version is costly and we have end-to-end support from the enterprise. Hope this helps. Cheers!
