What I never got is how you don't realise that your food's not cooking. I mean I have no professional training but it has happened sometimes when the stove did not turn on and I realised it in under a minute and these people just keep adding things to the pan and don't see it not cooking. I mean you can see him do double take for it, bringing his hand close to it, realicing there is no heat coming off it and making sure he is correct and slapping his hand on it to confirm that it truly is off. I mean he is professional and knows if it truly is on, it would be hot af and instantly move his hand off, i mean just touching hot af surface hurts, but if you instantly take your hand off it, you will pretty much be all fine

Well to be fair, the part you said about being aware of the mistakes her teammates made, that was part of how the competition worked. When choosing someone to eliminate in rounds they would have to have reasons, so the smarter contestants would be those who would focus on what mistakes either they find in their teammates or the ones Gordon points out in front of everyone. I didn't say this to discredit Heather's good work, she does deserve credit for doing so well in this competition, just tryna keep it real because all the other contestants whether good or bad in cooking were doing this behavior as well

kitchens are often a hot place to begin with. Also many chefs start a dish with a clean pan, which they toss everything in when it is still cold (so you don´t expect it to sizzle) and don´t wait for it to get hot first. So you actually have no actual sign that the oven is off. It´s already hot and it wouldn´t sizzle anyway...

I like how most of the people messing up big time in this video are ones who seem to get eliminated quickly, since I never see them in most of the clips from season 14.

I swear I have the biggest respect for cooks/ line cooks/ sous whatever, kitchen-workers there are still - like.. I could NEVER keep that momentum and stress and hard work up for more than maybe one dish, and I'm really a decent home-cook. But the way they go absolutely nuts in the kitchen is insane to me..

High pressure, high volume fine dining can be the most humbling experience in any cooks life. It can be uplifting in the most incredible way if things go great. But it's virtually soul-crushing when you're in the weeds and shit goes sideways, and you have a hard time getting things back
