this palace is a bona fide museum of decorative arts, historical paintings, stunning architecture--and survivals. Nothing in there is reconstruction. it is all original. can see that the partially collapsed ceiling decoration under the dome (@ q1:52/4:46) has been left untouched. It is a miracle this building survived the late 19th century where 9 out of 10 Safavid structures will pulled down by the governor, Zellisultan, and sold for their raw material--bricks, stones, tiles and mirrors!!! The twin of this building--the Aynakhana palace on the river front--as also the palaces of Jahan-nema, Haft-dast , Namakdan, etc etc--were pulled down. Only black and white photos of that and other buildings in Isfahan survive today
you know, there is an ACTUAL PHOTOGRAPH of Chelsotun from the 1850s, and prior to all the destructions by Zellosultan. this includes the actual mirror decoration of all those front wall and columns that are just stripped plain wood now. if you like, i could email it to you in order to keep it from getting lost and no one ever knowing how they looked like (if they try to recreate them in the future). In fact, there are loads of photographs from those early times, showing buildings and palaces in great detail and before their destruction
@@texmexexpress Yes, but so much more---SO MUCH MORE, was there even in the 1870s, until the psychopath, Zellosultan got there and killed and destroyed all that he could. I suppose he would look into the mirror everyday, and seeing the ugliest creature God had created, he would go out to destroy anything beautiful out of spite
