This is a great video. The quality is excellent! Dr Diop was a brilliant historian and physicist. I read a book years ago he wrote called Black Africa Before Colonialism. Great book and very informative. A must read! 🌍

I just watched Henry Louis Gates' Great African Civilizations the other night. Much of what Diop espoused was confirmed in the first segment of the series. I'm revisiting some of my uploads of the past and I've decided to re-post this on my Facebook site, 10 Books Every Black Person Should Read. Google it.

Thank you so much for sharing such a high quality version of this interview. It's one of the best and most informative videos of all time and because of its age it usually is only available online in old VHS quality uploads.

My absolute pleasure. Everyone should be encouraged to watch this video. I lobbied SCETV a long time to gain the rights to use this video in a historical vignette I did on Dr. Diop entitled "The Pharaoh of Knowledge." It's available online. Chuck Penn

Did Diop ever explain what happened to the indigenous Black population in Egypt? How did the Egyptian population become largely non Black?
@yayadiakite1195

Because later Arab came to settle in Egypt Africa is land of kemite black people
@CrowdPleeza

@@yayadiakite1195 Is that what Diop himself said? Where did he address this question I asked?

Here's what I found from Diop's book "The African Origin of Civilization Myth or Reality." "Egyptian civilization - its mathematics, science, art, invention, architecture, religion, law, government and all the rest - were all in place by the 2600 BC, long before whites began to arrive in large numbers after 1300 BC. It has been the waves of light-skinned foreigners since then that have increasingly whitened Egypt down through the ages." Diop doesn't say what exactly happened to the original Black populations of Egypt. Did they inter-marry with these white outsiders producing a Black-white mixed population? Does DNA show most modern Egyptians to be Black-white mixed? Did many of the original Blacks move to other parts of Africa? If so,where did they move to? Is Egyptian culture found in locations outside of Egypt? Like hieroglyphic writing,the Egyptian language? Are images of Egyptian gods found in other parts of Africa?

Theres at least 2 things to consider 1. Even today there are a lot more Black people particularly in Upper (Southern) Egypt than people tend to realise, Black people amongst the Saidis are not an uncommon sight, In turn when one remembers it doesnt take long at all to drop ones color, Drake has a Dark Skin father and a Blonde son in less than 2 generations, however youve had waves of Lighter skin people entering into Egypt since the Hykos if not earlier after 3,000 years of Hykos, Assyrians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Circassians, Turks, Albanians, French, English. Now when you examine the phenotype of todays non Black Egyptian and you examine the features, Black somewhat curly hair, dusky olive skin, Large noses, these are traits that are typical of Mixed Race people.

@@Colenelnelson Look up Egyptologist Kara Cooney for her video about race and ethnicity in ancient Egypt. She says the Arabs mainly replaced the elites and not the bulk of the Egyptian population. According to this Arabs never overtook the Egyptian population: "As the graph below shows, only 17 percent of Egyptians are Arabs, while 68 percent of the indigenous population is from North Africa, four percent are from Jewish ancestry, three percent are of East African origins, another three percent from Asia Minor and three percent are South European." How are we determining what the earliest people in Africa looked like? Did the earliest peoples who evolved in present day Algeria evolve to look similar to those peoples who evolved in present day Kenya? Keep in mind that these people were evolving in Africa while living at different distances from the equator. I'm thinking those people who evolved in Kenya likely looked like the present day people. Those early people who evolved in Algeria likely looked like Berber people.

@@notyourgirl5352 Keep in mind that there were no DNA tests during the 70s when Diop was putting out his info. So Diop was going to be limited with how well he could analyze the ancient Egyptian population.
