Same degradation is spoken of by AR Rahman fans in the quality of his music. Either a degradation or people are bored or there's good quality content creators, both music and cinema. Generally 90s are considered a golden age for these two artists. Besides the interview comment looks to have a light hearted comment. Don't be a fan boy, just appreciate art.
