Gonna be a long season

I can see Maresca experimenting a lot I think he wants to see what and who works better for his system the next friendlys will be key to figure out how the team will look coming into next season

If this is what is expected half the season (aka 'trust the process') I expect apathy as never before at the Bridge. Maresca wasn't my first choice and nor were many of these players, so if there's any discontentment it should all be directed at the ones pulling the strings from above. With regards to the game, we're actually lucky we play City early in season. They had 10+ senior players missing, and yet humbled us. Given that we'll still have this somewhat fresh in 2 weeks, I expect we'll at least put up a better fight. Hope we can salvage a point.

We have Palmer, Nkunku, Chuk, KDH, Lavia, Caicedo, Enzo and of course Casadei and Uguchukwu who all need to play in the middle of the pitch to be at their best and they are competing for the same three spots in midfield. And next season Santos and Paez will join that list. If we use the regular midfielders in those 8/10 hybrid roles then our offense looks dead. Use number 10's or CAM's in those 8/10 hybrid roles and the midfield gets overrun against any opposition that cares to make an effort. And of course it's never going to not be a problem that we can't even theoretically have two of the best midfielders and two of the best number 10's in the league on the pitch at the same time, doing the job they're actually S tier at doing. Want improvement? Stop trying to make us be Leicester. We have different players and we're up against a different level of opposition so play accordingly. This isn't to say we shouldn't short pass and whatnot, but our core strength is in central midfield and number 10's, so obviously it's a mistake to not get as many of those in play at any one time as possible.

Lavia has looked better this preseason than Enzo looked all of last season. I don't agree with Ollie in this idea that Lavia should be a back up to Enzo. It's actually the other way around.

City have top players a great manager and from what I can tell a well run club. We have none of these. A magic wand would be good. I’m 64 and I reckon I would have more effect on the game than Mudryk. If you really watch the games how can you think Mudryk has any place in a premiership team.

This is not an embarrassing lost it's the reality of chelsea fc now. We have a championship manager & stop believing that top 6 is achievable.The real embarrassment comes when real madrid shows us our place in European football. The ownership has destroyed this club.
