I'm a Liverpool fan since the 90s but it's always interesting to see season reviews of other clubs from the VHS days so thank you for uploading. Chelsea are such a fascinating club because of how much they've evolved. When I went on a stadium tour everyone was so friendly. And Ken Bates is the true hero of the club. If I was a Chelsea fan I'd defend him to death if anyone said anything bad about him.
well they've won more FA Cups than Liverpool, and more league titles since 2000, and have more CLs than Arsenal and Spurs combined. But I think being a "big club" is so arbitrary I've stopped thinking about it. Are Man Utd a bigger club than Liverpool? Don't know, don't care (anymore).
My second season as a ticket holder. I will never understand what they said to Gullit and Hughes to persuade them to join. "We're a mid-table team who haven't won a trophy for 24 years, but it might work out. What do you think?"
The haters and jealous heads always said Roman brought success to Chelsea. They forget that ever since Ruud joined the club way back that was just the beginning of the new CFC. Plus every season from 99 onwards they always finished in the top 6 and that was way before Roman came.
Do you have any of the other season reviews? Looking for ones between 1990 and 1995....feels like I spent most of my childhood watching those VHS reviews.
Yes i admit Glenn demanded changes when he joined. He really started the CFC Revolution, Hughsey,Dan The Man,Ruudy to name but a few, followed by Vialli and of course Franco which Ruudy carried onwards. The rest is of course history. People say Romans money brought success but remember since 1999 under Vialli and Ranieri we finished in the top 6 every season sine 96-97! until we actually won the league in 2004-05. Therefore i always felt slightly sorry for Ranieri, he did so well without the mighty Russians wealth and if kept on as manager he would have won the league also. With that financial backing even my wife could have managed Chelsea to the title. So is Jose Mourinho really so special? He proved how special he was at Spurs and now at manure. Not so special when a billionaire Russian buys a club and puts millions into it, cmon now lets be sensible. Mourinhos best achievement was at Porto, he took a mediocre team to champs league glory and that was a miracle.
