@@DDunc1020 I never got super into Chelsea Grin, like I love the band but I never just went and like listened to whole albums by them, so I couldn't tell you the names of the songs but none the less they were really freaken' good live. I don't know if the lineup is the same where you're at but the concert I went to had Undeath and Frozen Soul as the first 2 acts, they were really good live but obviously not as good as the headlining bands, like It almost seemed like their screams were getting weaker as their sets progressed while the other more well known bands had power in their vocals all throughout. The 3rd act was Bodysnatcher which surprised me with how insane they were live, like I always overlooked their music I never cared about their band enough to get that into them, but they actually sounded better live then they do on their records. Also side note Bodysnatcher's Kick drum is so loud I could feel each hit in my whole chest. Chelsea Grin and Dying Fetus absolutely crushed it live, I think Chelsea Grin was my favorite live because they had crazy energy the whole time and Tom was absolutely slaying on vocals. Dying Fetus was cool but the members pretty much stood still the entire concert and never moved, which I can't blame them because they were doing extreme vocals and shredding like crackheads the whole time. Overall, really good concert I can't recommend it enough

@@NickJ7903 Sadly the only members remaining from the Jason era is Pablo (drums) and David (bass). They had 3 guitarists for Ashes and none of them are in the band anymore. The guy on guitar now joined and played on the album Self Inflicted, and after that the other guitarists left along with Alex getting the boot. The longest running member of the band is David, and even then he didn't join until Desolation was being recorded.

@@StorckOnBass it was deathcore in 2010. But with how far the deathcore genre has been pushed through the last decade, it doesn’t hold up for metalcore now. A7X was metalcore once upon a time, but Waking The Fallen doesn’t hold up for metalcore in 2010 let alone 2022. It doesn’t meet the new standard that deathcore is now to be metalcore in 2022.

There higher than you think they just sound low (most of his lows) i can kinda do them but i couldn't explain them. But I agree

If you can do a standard false chord growl, he basically slows down the distortion rattle of it by "pushing" out his airflow slower. So instead of it being a more sand like texture to the tone it's closer to gravel. Hard to explain without examples, but I think Mark at Kardavox academy had a decent explanation of it on one of his videos covering Tom's other band he's in: Darko Us.

Ryan Kirby occasionally gets that throaty sound in my opinion

It's some kind of a fry lows (fry screams but with 'O'/smaller mouth shape). I did attempt to mimic it in my CG & Darko vocal covers.

No way. Alex is way better in CG. Love Tom in lorna and Darko, but the band as a whole went to the pack. Look at when they last made any music. Been years. That's what they get for kicking Alex out, and im happy about it. Edit: Just re - listened, Tom was no where near as good. Stand by my comments 100%.

@@jdjdjdjjc6535 definitely on the quiet side for sure. He's good n all but same with dude from Enterprise Earth. They're both super consistent, but it's too relaxed imo. Their style is "safer" but they rely too much on the mic and amps. You can alway tell by the way they do a mic check.
