Presented by Dr. Taran Grant of the University of São Paulo, Brazil, April 13, 2023.
Amphibians are uniquely characterized by their thin, highly permeable skin that provides meagre protection against the predators, parasites, and pathogens that thrive in the moist environments they inhabit. In this presentation, Dr. Grant summarizes his research on the chemical defense of poison frogs, which, contrary to most amphibians, do not produce their own defensive chemicals, but instead sequester them from their food.
