Whichever camp you fall into, there’s a skin care step I want to talk to you about: exfoliating. If you don’t think your skincare routine should take more than 5 minutes a day, you probably have not considered exfoliating an important step. But hear me out… men should exfoliate and I’ll tell you why. I promise this is NOT a skincare step that’s going to take hours a week. Besides, it makes a big difference especially as we get older.

WHAT IS A CHEMICAL EXFOLIANTION?
Chemical exfoliants are acids that react with the skin, removing built-up layers of dead cells and excess oil that can cause dull skin and blemishes.
HOW DO CHEMICAL EXFOLIANTS WORK?
all acids have a different cellular composition. Those made up of large molecules focus on the outer layers of skin, while some are much finer, able to dive deep within the dermis for a more thorough exfoliation.
There are 3 basic exfoliating acids: AHA, BHA and PHA.
AHA work on upper layer of skin and 2 basic AHA are Glycolic Acid and Lactic Acid.
BHA work on a deeper layer of skin and the most common BHA is Salicylic Acid.
PHA is a milder form of AHA and is perfect for sensitive skin.
Some precautions to take while chemically exfoliating your skin:
1) Exfoliate on dry skin
2) Read directions carefully
3) Choose a percentage strength based on what your skin can handle.
4) Do not exfoliate over broken or wounded skin.
