During the u20 match, ego says words to the effect of this moment has been brought together by all the dreams of ego, the blue lock staff, the strikers on the pitch. The blue lock program will produce a world class striker but it will ALSO produce world class midfielders wingers defenders and goals keepers as a by product. The fact that without itoshi sae the team full of strikers would have dog walked the japan team is proof positive that blue lock is a better system for producing every positional role despite its express purpose being to create a striker
That's a very good point! Reminded me of Ego in chapter 1 citing Pelé (off the top of my head) saying something to the effect that he considers himself the best striker, midfielder, defender and goalkeeper. And the narrative of Blue Lock indeed very much confirms that!
