Chennai looks beautiful only in videos and photos. But reality is different.. CMDA is the entity with lethargic attitude...No massive project and beautifcation of city has not been undertaken morethan decades...Others metros have grown up way ahead than Chennai. Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune have got laudable development in infrastructure.. They look like metro city..Navi Mumbai and Kolkatta have also developed well...here everywhere can see straying cow..worst roads with potholes.. North Chennai needless to say..everywhere garbage ..no cleaning..very horrible city to live..if you walk down on OmR roads..it doesn't look like seeing in video either..
You wrote so much true words. The infrastuctural development Hyd, Ban, Pune, Navi Mumbai and Kolkata in recent years in unmatchable. Even if the work starts this year. It will take atleast a decade to reach what they have already did
The reason is Hyderabad is ruled by Telugu, Bangalore by a Kannadiga, all sons of soil. But chennai is not ruled by Tamil. A telugu ruling the capital of TN will only plunder the city, not develop it. For chennai to improve, first vote for a Tamil to rule.

Hmm.. But, infrastructure wise Chennai is definitely bit behind ... Most of the roads are filthy, full of dung, and cows here and there.. also, not many recreational spots.. I agree that TN focuses on distributed development, but I don't want chennai to fall behind. 😢
I am a hard core Chennaite. I love my city. But in reality, Chennai has fallen behind a long way compared to other cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad etc. But I will remain in Chennai till my last breath. It is my mother.
@Black Adam So what does that translate to a common man?? A common man needs good infrastructure (roads etc), sound housing, food. A common man is not interested in GDP, per capita etc. Compare the above 3 factors between the 2 cities, there is a ocean of difference!

Chennai has best infrastructure compared to Bangalore or Hyderabad, roadways are good and wide, it has public transport includes bus, emu, mrts, metro, etc and even govt is focussing on to bring back ferry service in the city...cities are ranked based on GDP, in that case Chennai is very well grown compared to Bangalore or Hyderabad...
Chennai is unclean 😢.. Too many political posters and grafiti on new bridges and walls are deplorable and sore to the eyes. The dirt, grimy, 🥵hot dusty climate topped with poor waste management makes city like third rated. Only few vvip roads are clean rest are beyond anyone can save.. Dmk govt miserablly failed.

Chennai is beautiful but has fallen well behind Hyderabad and Bangalore in terms of IT infrastructure. Even now all the tech giants are investing in Hyderabad more than Bangalore and Chennai. Chennai needs to get in the mix and not rely on manufacturing and service support companies
Hyderabad is leagues ahead now in newer developed areas. The roads and street are super wide. The infra is mind boggling. I have been doing marketing all over India so I visit many cities. Most of the cities like Indore, Bhopal, Surat, Vizag, Ahmedabad, jaipur, Kolkatta etc. where the newer areas are developed have atleast 40 ft wide streets, park in every block and super wide main roads. Contrary to Chennai, the Old Chennai had good roads while newer areas have crumbled streets, no parks, no recreational spaces, no affordable good housing projects. Thanks to DMK that they used every inch of land to make money and left no space for roads, parks and streets.

To my previous comment i would like to add, admk ruled 10 years and durind that period they did zero development in chennai. Literally ZERO. They made chennai look like 2nd grade city.
