In this video, our volunteer Fabio Malaspina shows you how to tie a "Chernobyl Ant" dry fly. This is an attractor fly that you can use to target trout, panfish, and carp. For panfish, you may want to splash the fly on top of the water and give it a little twitch.
Materials list:
Thread: 140 UTC Chartreuse
Hook: Nymph hook 3x long size 6 to 12. In the video, I used a size Tiemco 5263 size 8 hook.
Tag accent: Red, Pink or other color ultra chenille. You can also use dubbing or peacock herl.
Underbody: Chartreuse 2 mm foam (other colors will work like: tan, yellow, orange, etc.)
Over body: Black 2 mm foam (other colors will work like: tan, yellow, orange, etc.)
Indicator tag: Yellow or orange foam about 2 mm wide. You can use 2 or 3 mm thick foam.
Legs: Round barred legs.
Skill level: intermediate
