Kentucky Steam Heritage Corp. is excited to announce that Chesapeake & Ohio 2716 will move via CSX and RJ Corman to Ravenna, Kentucky on July 26 through the 28th. Learn more here: www.kentuckyst...
2716 Moving from New Haven to Ravenna is the first time that a Steam Locomotive has traveled over CSX rails since 1994, Over 25 years later. The last locomotive to ever operate on CSX Prior to 2716 was Milwaukee road 261.
@@thomasbush5778 well what i'd like to see is 2716 pull the annual Santa Claus special on the Clinchfield hopefully later this year, featuring clinchfield 800 & several ex-clinchfield coaches leased from the great smokey mountain railway.
Proud to say the 576 was pulled by CSX onto its main line in Nashville couple months back. CSX has been nothing but a spectacular partner for both Kentucky Steam and Nashville Steam. Who knows, maybe it’s a sign of things to come
It's truly wonderful to see 2716 getting a new lease on life like this, even better to see operations like CSX and RJC joining in on the effort! Keep up the fantastic work folks, like Chris said - she's so much more than just a train!
@@mylesspear well I remember when they originally started this campaign (2016), they said 2716 would be done by 2019/2020. They make it seem in this video that it's possible it'll be under it's own power.
GT Rail Fan Productions well they spent some time finding a place to rebuild 2716. It's possible they may 2716 operational in the next 4 years but don't quote me on that.
The locomotive will be towed by a diesel with a special consist. There will be an announcement regarding the move in the coming weeks. 2716 will be restored to steam in Ravenna.
Does anyone know what csx stands for and can we expect to see 2716 operational in 4 to 5 years because on its Wikipedia page says it should be operational by 2020 and I doubt it'll happen I just hope this summer 587's remaining repairing repairs get done and I hope she'll be operational again by this fall or next year
Once 2716 is restored, I would love you guys to see if you can acquire C&O Allegheny #1601 from the Henry Ford Museum in Detroit Michigan. Because now that Union Pacific steam team proved that it’s possible to restore a giant locomotive by restoring Big Boy 4014 to run again, I think you guys should do the same with #1601 since it was in climate controlled environment ever since 1956. It has to be in perfect shape for a fairly easy restoration. Even though 2716 can draw attention, you’d be shocked at how much attention 1601 can draw. Watch the videos of Big Boy. If you have around 10 million dollars, it’s possible to restore 1601. Ed Dickens will give you good advice
