Always on em! I do love those bright skies for sight fishing, but the flood tides make it a lot tougher to manage

You got it Mike and thanks for watching brother. I self-impose a slot limit of roughly 20-29 inches. I do that because of bioaccumlation in the largest specimens and I like to promote a sport fishery with massive upper end fish 😏

Thanks brother. Unfortunately, no, haven’t been to Havre de Grace for em yet. I’d aim for a high tide and outgoing tide and target the thickest grass I can find. If it’s sunny, also look for shade. Good luck!

Tried for them yesterday, just couldn't get on them. I think the bass tournament may have shut 'em down. Got a couple decent largemouth though.

They prefer fresh for do well in brackish. In the saltier brackish though they don’t thrive and often die.

You may have mentioned this in other videos but do you find specific conditions warrant topwater vs sub-surface. I figure on windy conditions topwater might be difficult but are there other conditions that you can share where topwater or sub-surface might be better?

I tend to do best on topwater with cloudy days and low wind. I can still do well with topwater if the wind is low and I find top cover or shade for snakehead. But once the wind picks up or is a bluebird sky day, subsurface is definitely where I have my best luck.

Are you sight-fishing when you work the frogs that slow or is that just how you work them in high priority areas?

It’s a mix. Ideally, you generally want to work the frogs with the same patience and cadence whether you see a fish or not. But it’s definitely easier to do it when you can see them and “play” the fish with your retrieves. In this video I was definitely sigh fishing a lot, especially at the end. In other earlier areas, I was casting to likely ambush points and pockets and trying to mimic the cadence and movement of baitfish cruising the shallows or evading a predator.

It’s a mixed bag getting that first one. I know guys who’ve been out once and got em, and I know others who’ve been out 5-10 times with no luck yet. Focus on the structure and the tides to locate them first, then select the lure for those conditions. Good luck!
