@@Tabaspika For me, it was part guilt, part compassion. But after all, you can't resign just to give the win to the opponent. The sorry was a bit pointless, but the emotions were also very intense. There's really nothing to say in a moment like this. Fabi, as any adequate chess player knows, has only himself to blame. We can say he missed the win, because he was low on time or whatever, but if you are in his shoes, those are just excuses and won't help coping with the situation.

Had no chance of anything but a draw at the end. However Ian is apologizing because fabi had an advantage and he couldn't convert it to a win. Nepo and Hikaru are two players that make it INSANELY difficult for opponents even when they're losing, it's a skill that not many top GM's have (not to that extent), not to mention anyone below that level - that's why you see them save these games all the time. If you saw this last game and thought it's "luck", Idk what to say man, watch all of these unlimited amount of variations that Nepo created with his defensive resources. hope to see Ian again in Candidates 2026 and become the world champion someday. I have been supported for him since 2020 but this time Gukesh deserves to win. Ian made 2 draws against Abasov which he could play more agressively to find a win. He couldn't believe that Alireza threw a whole point for Gukesh, me either

It was tough luck getting abasov in the first game - before he's tilted.

Huge respwct for both players, Nepo is always so passionate and Fabi contrasts this by being extremely stoic and composed even though his mind is probably going through it as well. Both are gentlemen.

Both of these players have lost as a challenger and in this moment they understand that the newer generation has taken over, we might see them just for 1 more candidates but not after that😭, crazy how I grew up watching these guys and now they'll be gone.

I don't know about that. Both of them are in their early 30's. Vishy won his first undisputed World Chess Championship at 37. Both of them have quite a few years to win world chess championship for themselves.

To be fair Nepo had a massive disadvantage at the final round trying to win against Fabi with black. Meanwhile Hikaru had white and played the most drawish line I have ever seen

@itsguzzy
@itsguzzy 2 месяца назад
He faced a more motivated abasov in rounds 1 and 8 than what gukesh for example did later on. This was one of the reasons he couldn't farm points on him as well.

@@itsguzzy but bro we cant say that is reason gukesh won i mean see vidit his tournament wasnt that good but he beat hikaru twice which played a big role in gukesh win it is not about who is when more motivated and all gukesh dominated when needed

Why is Ian apologizing ;-; They both gave it their all, and in the end Fabi wasn't able to deliver the final crushing blow. Both players played amazingly this Candidates, but chess (and life) can be so brutal
