Really appreciate this video! I’ve really struggled to find a good method of analysis without the engine. You’ve given me some nice ideas. Thanks

Glad it helped! ill be doing the next step in a few days to show how my self analysis along with the engine combine. when I filmed this i originally did the whole video explaining step by step but it was over an hour long so I instead refilmed showing what I had in there. so happy to hear its helped someone :)

I also find this video helpful. I think we learn more by analysing games without engine. Looking forward to the 2. part. About the opening, This pawn structure is actually quite common in English and Sicilian, i.e. The idea is to keep the centre closed and play on the wings. 1. c4 c5 2. Nc3 Nc6 3. g3 g6 4. Bg2 Bg7 5. e4 or 1. c4 e5 2. Nc3 Nc6 3. g3 g6 4. Bg2 Bg7 5. e4 or 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Nc3 e5 or 1. e4 c5. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 e5

Great Video. Looking forward to more. You mentioned databases and how to create one, what software do you use for this.

glad you enjoyed it. personally, ive found lichess study to be my database of choice. you can create studies (up to 64 chapters) and its a great option to use on any device because its all online. just log in and you have it in my next video I will be demonstrating how to use set up a study. there are more traditional databases such as chessbase or scid vs pc id say are the most popular.. i have chessbase but dont get much use out of it. i felt like I wasted my money. Lichess is free and easy... but everything has its limitations.
