Learn how to play Chess the right way from beginner to master level. National Master Robert Ramirez will take you up the pyramid by following a proven Chess training program he has been improving and implementing for over 10 years.
Benefits of Playing Chess:
- Promotes brain growth
- Increases problem-solving skills
- It exercises both sides of the brain
- Raises your IQ
- Sparks your creativity
- Teaches planning and foresight
- Teaches patience and concentration
- Optimizes memory improvement
- Improves recovery from stroke or disability
- Helps treat ADHD
Chess is an intellectual battle where players are exposed to numerous mental processes such as analysis, attention to detail, synthesis, concentration, planning and foresight. Psychological factors are also present on and off the board; playing Chess stimulates our imagination and creativity. Every single move a player makes is the result of a deep analysis based on the elements presented on the battlefield.
Chess in its essence teaches us psychological, sociological and even moral values. In a Chess game, both players start with the same amount of material and time. The fact that the white pieces move first is considered to be practically irrelevant -especially because a player typically plays one game as white and one game as black. Consequently, the final result of the battle solely depends on each player. It doesn’t matter if you win by taking advantage of your opponent’s mistakes or by simply avoiding mistakes yourself. Truth is that Chess is an extremely individual sport and our defeats can only be blamed on ourselves and no one else. And this, in the end, only benefits us because we learn to be and feel responsible for our actions and never come up with excuses to justify ourselves.
We also learn that when it comes to our victories on the board, our opponent's mistakes play a more significant role than our own skills. Let’s not forget that a Chess game without any mistakes would be a draw. This way, Chess provides us with another valuable life lesson: be humble at all times.

An early Christmas present from the coach! I play the Czech still, I love it. Though, I have probably wandered off of your recommended path. I play a lot of opposite side castling attacks with the Czech Pirc. And I never play it with the white pieces, maybe I should try. It was nice to see the way you handle the opening. The Nd7,Re1, Nf1 maneuvers are very nice. The Czech is such a flexible system, it made me a much better player with the black pieces. Thanks again!

Hey, I just wanted to say thanks so much for posting the content you've been posting. I'm a fairly experienced player, I think at around at least an intermediate to advanced level. Recently, I've been giving the pirc, the kings indian and kings indian attack a try and I've recently hit my personal best by playing the three openings on lichess by hitting 2200 rapid, and I've been looking for more offbeat but respectable openings which gives good winning chances and I love how there's almost always imbalances in the position too. Will look into the rest of your content once I get a good understanding of the 3 openings but again thank you!! :)

Thank you! Would love to know more about the main ideas and plans for the middle game when using the Czech pirc. I feel you often get to those statu quo position where one of the player just end up starting the exchange sequence and then who is some tactics magically happen :p! But it s not so clear for me. I have been playing only this opening for the last months but still can’t always figured out what to do with my bishop and knight sometimes. Also, if you could throw a slightly longer game in there so it doesn’t always finish with time pressure would be sweet, I feel we might miss some interesting end game patters , coming from playing this opening, because of that and most of the time the opponent just blunders under time pressure . The rest is amazing !!

Dear Robert You are such a fantastic teacher. Thanks to you I have discovered my all time favourite opening/defence as black - the wonderful Czech Defence (Czech Pirc). It’s all I play as black and I do very well with it 😊 But, I'm really struggling as white. I've tried so many openings as white, and I've never fallen in love with any like I love the Czech Pirc. So I thought 'what the heck, I'll try playing it as white'! So I'm now playing it as white (d3, Nf3, c3, Qa4, e5 etc). Very early days. Going okay so far, but more videos will help ❤!You have two two videos featuring the Czecch as white (including this one) but please please please can we have more videos on playing the Czech with the white pieces. If you do this I will definitely become a paid member again (I only stopped due to financial reasons 😔). Thanks so much, Daniel
@Daniel-G-P

Please forget my last comment. The Czech pirc as black is amazing, the best. But I have realised that playing it with white is disastrous. It's so weak with the white pieces, so I'm back to the English! Yay!❤ So, for me, I will stick with English with white (and I love your English videos) and Czech as black. So more videos on the English and on Czech Pirc please!😊

I don’t like when you play the Czech pirc as white, you’re a move ahead which changes things a lot. Perhaps you could make custom challenges as black so you play all the games as black? Also in custom settings you can choose a minimum rating for your opponent 👍🏻 Love your channel overall though thanks for the great lessons.

I played chess pirc 26 times during a few months (15+10, so maybe 15 hours of play) and I can't stop losing. This openning is a shit to me. I was trying, really hard, I thought this openning will be for me, I will master it (I thought), but no. There is no space, there is so many places for mistakes for black and for instant loss. This doesn't work for me.
@NMRobertRamirez
@NMRobertRamirez 2 года назад
Hello! Feel free to share some of those games. I would be happy to take a look. Maybe we can find where things went wrong 👍 Also, remember that if you are getting in trouble in the middle or endgame, it has nothing to do with the opening. Openings are only a small percentage of the game and as long as you follow the main three principles we learned in lesson # 24 you will be fine -as long as you have acquired a good middle and endgame foundation of course 👍
