Last year I was working with refugee kids in an after school program. One kid asked me to teach him chess even though I only know the absolute basics. I did so, and it opened a can of worms. EVERYONE wanted to learn, even the other teachers. We ended up having to do chess Fridays because all the kids ever wanted to do was play chess instead of practice language or work on homework 😂 a bunch joined chess clubs in school. They all quickly learned more than I ever have and easily beat me 9/10 times. For the holiday season we had a budget to buy them each board games, ended up pretty much buying most of the 40 kids chess sets 😂

I tried to get good at chess while I was in college. I did loads of research about openings and game play, I played with a computer app for hours, it's what I did in my free time instead of playing Tetris. This was months of me trying to get better and master the game. I was home for the holidays and asked my dad if he wanted to play a game with me. A man who hasn't played chess in probably 30 years. He beat me in about 5 minutes. He quickly beat me three times in a row. My dad doesn't even like chess

It would be so cool if you started making more chess content. Everyone I watch is like crazy good, and seeing some else’s journey to becoming a better player would be cool.
